My brother in law spent over two months at this facility in hospice care. He received the most compassionate and timely care we could ever have expected. The staff was unfailingly patient and compassionate. We visited often and found the facility to be consistently clean and everything in good repair. My brother in law had only one incident in which he fell out of bed but thanks to safety precautions and watchful staff he did not sustain serious injuries. We were called immediately. I cannot speak to the food as he quickly became too ill to eat. When we couldn’t be there every day staff attempted to feed him and offer water. They kept us updated almost every day. We appreciated such wonderful end of life care for my brother in law.

My husband was at The Villa at St. Louis Park. I thought the care was alright, but I wasn't happy with the people that were there like the social worker never called me back. I was disturbed about that. To me, they didn't deliver the job taking care of him. It was the time when the pandemic was going on, so I couldn't go in there a lot of times, though I could go in the last time I was there. They kept it pretty clean and nice. His room looked nice, too. I just didn't like the way they took care of him. He had physical and occupational therapy there. The only reason why I took them was that they were closer to where I live. They weren't that intuitive like the other place, where when you push your button, they're right at the room, but at this place, it took them forever to get to the room.

DO NOT bring your loved ones here. The care was negligent at best, allowing patients to go for days without bathing, and they abruptly ended care for my family member WITH DEMENTIA, WHO CANNOT CARE FOR THEMSELVES without even notifying us. I will be reporting this to the state.

ROOM WAS AIRY AND BRIGHT; LIGHTING COULD BE IMPROVED. TEMPERATURE CONTROL WAS POOR. MOST STAFF WAS CORDIAL. SOME STAFF WAS BARELY JUST PUTTING IN TIME. SOME STAFF DID NOT HAVE COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE [BOTH ORAL AND WRITTEN] TV WAS POOR SELEECTIONS / RESOLUTION THERE WAS MAJOR BREAK DOWN BETWEEN RESIDENT AND FOOD SERVICE; ALTERNATE MENU WAS A DISMAL FAILURE. I CANNOT BELEIVE THE DUPLICATE QUESTIONS ASKED BY STAFF ALMOST AS THOUGH THERE WAS NO COMMUNICATION THERE WERE SIGNIFICANT DELAYS ANSWERING THE CALL LIGHTS IN OUR WING

Food is sub par rotten fruit is delivered and expected to be eaten and questionable if it even meets nutritional requirements, staff is extremely crabby, long waits for help, piss your pants vs help getting to bathroom is the mentality.

My uncle was transferred here as being a hospice patient. He was gravely ill and wasn't going to last much longer. He was put in a dumpy, dirty room at the end of a hall with nothing in it but a bed. The staff is worthless, uncaring, lazy, and I wouldn't put my dog in this place to stay. While I was there a lady was calling out for help several times and no one came to her aid. I don't know what her health issues were or if this happened often but, it only takes 5 minutes to go in and comfort her. Then as I was leaving and passing by the staffs desk; 2 caregivers were sitting there doing nothing and making fun of this woman. Shame on them! How would they like it if it was them or their family member. My uncle was on the second floor so I had to take the elevator to leave. I pushed the button to go down and the door opened. A housekeeping lady was in the elevator with a big bin. No room for my mom and I to get in so, I let the door close. Wait a bit and push the button again; door opens and she is still in the elevator texting on her phone and told me no you can't get on. Door shuts and I try the button again; door opens and she is still there texting on her phone and gets snotty with me and says shut the door. What the hell? She is suppose to be working! Finally I was able to take the elevator down to get the hell out of that terrible place. Thank God my uncle ended up passing away the next day so, he didn't have to lay there in that horrid place!

TOP.NOTCH. FACILITY I just spent 9 days there and in that whole time I was treated with excellent care and respect. The entire staff is very caring and I have nothing negative to say. The facility is very clean and the food good(we got served a full Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving). The aides were phenomenal!!

Don’t put anyone you care about in this facility. My husband had a catheter in that needed to be changed. The nurse who change it didn’t get it in correctly causing bleeding and requiring a hospital stay to correct and monitor. Response to call lights is hideous. He has complained repeatedly about the response time overnight. Maybe they need to hire competent staff and add more staff for making sure patients needs are taken care of. Making an effort to check on patients without them having to push the call button would do wonders for patient safety snd care. The rooms have no overhead lights. For the long term care rooms, the family needs to provide a tv and a land line phone AND phone service. Having trouble getting the staff to work with him to get him out of his room to socialize for his mental health. I have been trying to get them to get him up walking too which hasn’t been happening.

My spouse stayed at the Villa of St. Louis Park for three weeks after an open heart surgery and our overall impression is quite favorable. Yes, there were some glitches, in the first evening when we thought that the hospital made a quick decision for him to be transferred and the Villa was not quite ready. There was another glitch - funny in hindsight - when his pants disappeared. Were taken to the laundry and no one told us. Several times the main phone line just rang with no one answering. And one time he was sent to an appointment with an empty oxygen tank! But the nurses and the therapists were caring and consciences and professionals, as were other staff members who arranged for transportation to appointment and the business office. Some may have been over their heads, but they tried their best. As a matter of fact, I wanted to leave envelopes with rewards for individual staff members but could not get hold of the manager to ask for suggestions.. It may have helped that my spouse possess and easy disposition, though.

Horrifying. Endless waits for nurses, sandwiches for dinners, horrible food, chronically understaffed. Some conscientious staffers but others who have given up. It is difficult to imagine a worse customer experience. Avoid at all costs.

This faculty said my mother was okay acting paranoia/ dementia, and contributed directly to her death after a “fall” from “trying to get out of bed”. It never happened, she did not have the strength to try to get of bed. She was a hospice patient at the time so would not have had much longer, but as a result of their carelessness and I believe cover up of an accident during a transfer she died with a broken femur. After that, they failed to meet with me in spite of repeated contact attempts, probably worried about legal liability. I don’t want to sue anyone, I just wanted the respect of acknowledgment, a conversation, and for them to do better in the future. I am making a complaint to the Minnesota Department of Health for all the good it will do, but it’s something at least. Please keep your loved ones out of here.

I am not too impressed. Poor quality and the appearance of the care and building is just an indication they take government funding. I understand that people get what they pay for but it really shouldn't be so obviously lacking in every aspect, they get a hefty payment from medicare! Building has that old feeling and smell that nobody wants to send a loved one to and the entire ambience is a bit depressing. Care facilities have come a really long way, this facility could catch up with the times and improve the quality. Most of us will age and need care at some point, if you wouldn't want to live here yourself I believe that the facility management should make according changes It is 2020, care settings do not need to look and feel this way.

I was a post operative rehab patient at the Villa in July and August of 2019. I found the staff to be unbelievably attentive, friendly and accommodating. In the six weeks I was there, we had a few days when they were a bit slow in responding to the help button. When I mentioned it to the nurse, they explained that they had a couple of new patients who required more than one attendant. The problem was solved by adding staff and was remedied in a matter of days. My room was large and very clean, with plenty of seating space for guests. I did bring in a reading lamp from home, as the lighting was not task oriented. The menu was varied and allowed for a lot of flexibility. I prefer to eat a larger meal midday and less in the evening, and that was fine. If all I wanted was a cup of soup and and a dessert, that was fine. Whatever I asked for, if they could provide, they did, and with a smile. The staff was so kind, from the nurses, t the therapists, to the aides. I was eager to return home, but genuinely sad to leave these lovely people who had treated me so well.

My mother was there for one evening. She called and was upset that her room was too cold. I went there to check on her and realized her room was extremely cold. I wanted to leave with her but staff said her meds were not there yet and would be delivered soon. So, her and I laid in her bed with our coats and blankets on. It was so cold the staff kept apologizing and told me no one should be in that room due to how cold it is. Plus they said its cold everywhere and were hopeful that if I complained maybe maintenance would do something. I did not wait for her meds I took her out. Not only cold but was not very.clean.

So disappointed to walk into a building that is so beautiful and then find that it's not representative of the care. Apparently on paper it looks like there is enough staff that people are actually "spoiled" during their stay. Not so. The eves I visited, there was one aid for all of the residents on TCU. Residents had to wait one after another for help with night cares, toileting and getting into bed. The nurse was either passing meds or at the nurses station transcribing doctor orders and so could not help with the patient cares. My friend got to feel that she didn't want the aid to leave the room, it would be virtually impossible to get her back when needed again. And she didn't want to call for help, because she knew the aid was so busy helping others. What an awful way for an elderly infirm person to have to feel. Especially when administration bragged about their staff to patient ratio prior to admission. There's nothing to brag about along these lines. Maybe it looks good on paper, but the reality is quite different. I have to say the food was better than I expected and the environment is kept clean. I'm also glad that it's a completely smoke-free building. I'm not sure, but I think if you're at North Memorial Hospital this is the TCU that they automatically send patients to for this area. If there's family members involved, I would recommend checking on other TCUs prior to hospital discharge for the patient, Visit in the evening or on a weekend. Not during the day when administration is there and they are most fully staffed on the weekday day shifts. TCU care is not cheap and people should get excellent personal care 24/7, not just a nice looking building and a smile.

My observation is this: It is dirty and dingy. The staff is rude and uncaring. I would not put my worst enemy in there. They talk to the residents as if they were little children.

My father was at the transitional care unit of this facility and did not have a good experience. The facility is newer and he had a big private room but he did not receive very good care. Although, the PT program seemed pretty helpful and beneficial. But, other than getting up for PT or OT, and for his meals, he was left in his bed the remainder of his day. He ate every meal alone in his room. But the real negative was how unclean the place is. He struggles with incontinence and was not cleaned on a regular basis, nor was his bed or clothing. He had not showered the day he was discharged and smelled very bad. His room also smelled very bad. I would not recommend this facility to your loved one.

The Villa at St. Louis Park has an excellent physical therapist. My dad was there primarily for the rehab following a hip surgery. The phyiscal therapy assistants were very good too. The rest of the care, we find quationable, and we were not overall pleased. The room is large, and the furnishings were okay. The food was horrible. The staff was not as skilled as in the other facility we’ve been to. They were rude sometimes. They were not very caring of who they are taking care of. One gentleman who comes in to help dad get dressed has no interaction; would not say a word when he enters dad’s room. One time, dad ended up having a big bruise on his ankle because this gentleman grabbed dad too tightly while helping him put on his shoes. We feel that they were not very responsive whenever dad needed something.
