Reviews of Hearthstone Nursing And Rehabilitation Center

I am/was a resident of this facility
The only reason this review is not a 1 star is that some of the staff at Hearthstone do really care, and do their best to take care of their patients. I'm a service connected disabled Veteran and was at this facility for over 3 weeks post reconstructive surgery. The food was poor. The building itself really needs to just be torn down. I had an ant infestation in my room, and sleep was very, very difficult to come by in a 2 person room. Again, some of the staff are there for the right reasons, others are there because... I don't know really... They had no business being there. For instance I had a CNA put a thermometer in my mouth with NO PROTECTIVE COVERING ON IT. I gagged and nearly vomited I was so disgusted. I personally would NOT RECOMMEND this facility to anyone who has other options. I would not want my grandmother to live out her time on earth in such a delapated run-down facility, with only a hand-full of real professionals there to administer quality care.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
AWFUL, from my mom falling out of bed just after leg amputation, didnt change bandage left it wet until my sister made them change it almost 2hours after shower, diabetics Out of Control. Yesterday and today her sugar was at 48 again my sister demanded them to go check in on her and call her back, now her sugar is at 57. they are going to kill my mom and this is the best place in the Rogue Valley? Nursed dropped a pill the other day and basically said oh well and never looked for it. One reason is because she gave her all her pills at once (my mom's hands are already shaky) and he had No idea which pill fell.

I came across with Hearthstone Nursing & Rehabilitation Center when my Dad had to go for rehabilitation. About the working attitude of the staff on a scale of 1 to 10, it is about a 4. The way they treated their visitors was fine. There were a lot of nice people there. The place was sometimes clean. The family went and had Thanksgiving with my Dad. I didn't care for the food, but he likes it. They have a lot of different activities, but my Dad doesn't like to participate. My main complaint with them is the timeliness of the way they take care of people when they ring their bell. That is horrific at times because he has to call me, and I have to call the facility to have somebody get there or I would probably be down there in a minute. People could be in need of medical assistance. My Dad one night was having trouble breathing. I sat there before and waited 40 minutes for them to come. I have encountered it many times. I see it happening to others. He has three roommates and they do it to all of them. They do come when I call them, but that is about the only time they do. The place is still better than the one he was before, but it does not mean it's good.

I am a friend or relative of resident
My mother has been in this facility for a week. She broke her tailbone and fractured her pelvis. The first day she arrived she was put in a room and waited with my sister for three hours before some one came in to meet her. The toilet she shares with four other people is broken. She needs to take a shower. Her hair has not been washed for over a week. Because she's slow to get up and down the nurses or CNA just lifts her from the bed and plops her in the wheel chair because she doesn't have the time to wait for her. She was taking cumdin (blood thinner) so when she's lifted like that she gets Hugh brushes. After she's put into the chair she's left there bare footed with nothing to raise her feet up. As a result her feet are ice cold, swollen and purple. To help keep her blood pressure up she is suppose to wear support hose every day. They put them on her once and when they took them off they have never put them back on. I was in her room for two hours. My sister had to put her socks on. Room bells and bells indicating that someone need to be helped off the pot rand non stop. I was told that each CNA had seven patients she was responsible for. Looking at what they do it dosent seem that they manage their time well. I find it hard to believe that I am the first person to write a review, because I can't believe that the care for others in the facility is any better.
