I visited this facility

I checked out Rossmor. It was the biggest senior living place. It was bigger than all the senior living in the bay area put together. It had a lot of land around it. They had security to get into the grounds, and there were no crimes or safety issues. They had independent living, which was like an apartment and cottage. You buy them, and they are not very expensive. Then you'll pay a monthly fee based on how big of a unit you bought. Then you could move in to the other unit for assisted care. They had all sorts of activities. They played board or card games, tennis, and golf. They got together for movies. They had three or four big swimming pools, and two of them were indoor for laps and aerobics. They had tennis courts, and they played competitive tennis. They also had a lawn golf course. They had large exercise rooms and a movie theater. They had a fitness center. They would take you if you wanted to go somewhere within a couple of miles from the place. They also do shopping a couple of days a week. They had local trips and trips around the world. They also had wonderful restaurants, which were very high end with good quality food. They could improve to have more room for electric cars to plug in because most of them use golf carts to go places, but not all of the garages have electricity to plug those in.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Rossmoor is the best facility that I know of in the Contra Costa County area. They're very clean and it doesn't smell. They really take care of their patients. They're very kind and they're very caring. The reason why this one stands out for me is because I've worked at a few and there was no hot water and that's very essential for an elderly. They need warm water to keep themselves clean and no one wants to be washed with cold water. When it's hot, they keep it cool. When it's cold, they keep it warm. They're very attentive to their patients. The employees there are very nice, they're very kind. They make sure that the patient is very comfortable. As I was sitting there visiting my friend, I was watching how the nurses were taking care of the other patients and how they were just so concerned and so kind. She had a double bed, she shared a room. The bed was just a normal hospital bed. There was a TV just like a regular hospital setting. The food is good. They had a special room where they had daily activities, bingo, card playing, television, and interreaction with the nurses. They had a lot going on there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I live here at Rossmoor and we have all the amenities in this facility. What we don't have is medical facilities in the actual complex, but we do have medical facilities surrounding it.

I visited this facility

I was astounded by how well everything was kept up. The grounds were beautiful and the homes seemed clean and quiet. There's a golf course located on grounds also. Rossmoor is nested in a small valley in Walnut Creek and is surrounded by lush foliage. There is a security check-point at the entrance so people don't have to worry so much about strangers cruising their neighborhood. Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to take a tour of the entire facility. The inside of my friend's grandmother's house was updated and spacious. The dwellings appear to be condominiums and are more spacious than apartments. The front yards are well kept and the overall feel of the area is quaint. I would definitely consider moving to a place like this when I am old, particularly if I was alone. Rossmoor definitely gives off a community vibe. I was told by his grandmother that they often host different kinds of events for residents to attend.

The location is absolutely stunning. The grounds are gorgeous, the buildings and amenities are fantastic, and the place is just really a beautiful place to live. Also, they are very accomodating. There are condos, apartments, townhomes, and actualy houses, all inside of the gated community. It's easy to find a comfortable place for any lifestyle or family type! There are also lots of activities, events, and programs. When I'm old, I hope that's where I end up--it's beautiful!

The Rossmoor Assisted Living Facility and Retirement Homes complex is nestled between Walnut Creek and Canyon Territory in the San Francisco Easy Bay. The complex spans the floor of a very long valley at the floor of a canyon, with homes rising up the hillside and forming a sort of long and wide bowl shape. My grandparents lived in one of the retirement homes near the top of the canyon. I visited them several times and was amazed at how peaceful and serene the atmosphere was. The view of the valley was incredible, and in the morning a dense fog crept over the canyon ridge. About one hundred yards from their home was a fire trail that led straight into Canyon Territory, which is a large and relatively undeveloped forest. During my visit, my grandparents took me to the Assisted Living portion of the complex to visit an old friend of theirs. This part of the complex is in the valley, near to the amenities. There are plenty of activities for residents, like game night, movie night, and so on. The facilities were very nice and well maintained, owing more similarity to an upscale hotel than the stereotypical nursing home. It seemed like a very nice place to live out one's golden years.
