Aegis Living Pleasant Hill

We went and toured Aegis Living Pleasant Hill. They had a good salesperson in the sense that they were prepared for a visit. They gave us a tour of the facility. Everything was carpeted. When the patient's family comes to visit, they had a dining room if they wanted to use it to have dinner with their family member there, and I thought that was very nice. They had like a little movie room, which was great. The big thing is that they had a nice garden. My dad is very outdoorsy, so I think that would make him feel at ease in seeing a bigger garden because all other places literally were like nothing. He thought it was very cheerful to some extent including the movie room. The downside of it is that you need like close to 20 grand to just get started with the facility. They showed us memory care and assisted living. It's all within just rooms of each other. It was not that huge of a place, but it wasn't that small. The person who showed us around was very patient. She brought in somebody who spoke Spanish, which I thought was very nice. I thought that was kind of smooth. It was good. They did a really, really good job. She did an awesome job. Everything was super clean. However, the elevator was under construction and my dad had to go up some stairs, which is not a big deal.

I liked Aegis Living Pleasant Hill. The staff was very nice there, but they gave me one price on the phone and when I was there when they wrote everything up, it ended being about double the amount and I just couldn't do that. They were over 12 grand above that I thought was ridiculous. I saw both assisted living and memory care. They were insistent that my sister-in-law did not need to be in the memory care unit. They thought she did quite fine, but I disagreed with them. They had outdoor spaces. We're going to put her up on the second floor in a unit by herself, and there's no way that she could be by herself. It doesn't work that way. The price for the assisted living was like double the amount of the memory care unit at the other place. God knows what it would have been for needing the memory care. It might have been three times as much. I didn't like how they started at one price and then you get down to the nitty-gritty of it, and it was something different. It's a lot of money every month that these places charge. They were great showing me around. The assisted living rooms had their little kitchenette area. There was a little refrigerator and a sink. They had a courtyard and an activity room. The dining area was more like a restaurant-style. They've got several tables in there and it looked like the food would come to the table for the client.

Aegis Living Pleasant Hill is a very clean facility. It's a good size and has a nice layout. The rooms are very nice too. They're like rooms in a home. The apartment that my mom is going to have is about 640 square feet, where most of the others are 500. Just from my walk-through, the dining area also looked nice. It's on the lower level, so it's easy for her to access, and the staff all seem very, very kind. There are movies, bingo, and they have a great garden out back. It's a really beautiful backyard setting. It's very clean, well-kept, inviting, and everybody there has been phenomenal. Outstanding staff.

My dad moved into Aegis Living Pleasant Hill. So far, it's been pretty good. The staff is very nice, the food is great, and he is in a small room, because he does not need a large room. There are a ton of activities, they have a daily schedule, but he's not participating in them. It's very cozy, small, and it felt like a big house that he's living in. It's more manageable, comfortable, the people that worked there have been there for a long time, and they're like a family. I feel like they're into their people, and they really care about their people.

Aegis of Pleasant Hill was very clean and decorated with nice colors. They have a very nice dining room. The man in charge was very knowledgeable and caring with the people, and he had a nice presentation. They have all kinds of things going on to keep people involved. They don't like the residents to stay in their rooms, they like them to come out and get involved with other people. We were showed a sample room, which was also very nice.

Aegis of Pleasant Hill was a very lovely and intimate place because it was not big. Everything was very nice. The common areas were not large but were very nicely appointed. We were welcomed by the staff, who clearly knew their residents and calling them by name, which I think was important. They were lovely people. They were set up for lunch with table cloths on the dining tables, which I thought was really lovely. I saw the activity calendar, which had an adequate amount of activities for the residents. I liked the rooms the best; I thought they were really nice.
