Reviews of Arlington Care Center
Middle Child Sandie September 20, 2017
I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My father entered this facility to do rehab due to a fall at home. My father is 83 and was in the middle stages of dementia. Because the fall not only caused 2 fractures in the bone around his current hip replacement, the trauma of the fall, staying in the hospital for 3 days and then to a care facility for rehab....unfortunately escalated my father's dementia to go to the next level. My father ended up not being able to be rehabbed because he could not comprehend what he was instructed to do, he could not comprehend that he was hurt and could not place weight on his leg. So...he continued to try to get up, has fallen out of bed several times, has been sundowning, has been aggressive toward the staff and other residents. Since he was unable to be rehabbed, according to Medicare, they could no longer foot the bill, which I do understand! So, now dad becomes a "nursing home patient". He was moved to a different area of the care center with new staff taken care of him. It has been the hardest thing we have ever had to do, is realize that dad now "lives" at Arlington! The staff has worked very hard with my dad to adjust his meds accordingly to give him quality of life. There is an adjustment period for all concerned, the resident which is my dad, our family and the staff. Others may say that he's not getting the attention you would think he should get but he is. He is eating 3 meals a day and cleans up his plate, he has a nice comfortable bed with his favorite fleece blankets from home, he has television with his favorite western channels, a recliner from home, photos from home that he can look at, a clean room. He is safer there than he would be at home, alone. The key to success is to be open and communicative with the staff! Ask a lot of questions and be interactive! You can do things for your loved one that you would normally do, if they were at home. The care center does the basics! But they do take care of my dad and I am THANKFUL!

I visited this facility
Not happy at all with the way my family member was treated. My family member had a joint replacement and was there for rehab. I felt she was neglected. Staff seemed to be overwhelmed, and patient to staff ratio was very large. It just seemed like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. I am extremely unhappy with the care my family member received. We will not return in the future at next joint replacement surgery and I would not recommend this facility.

I visited this facility
The rooms at Arlington Care Center were nice and clean. The residents could go outside but it was a parking lot, there was no area with grass and trees where they could sit around. I also liked that they bring the residents on outings. However, I did not think they did background check on the people who worked there. I would suggest they do more background checks. Nonetheless, I would recommend this facility if they made sure the staff have been checked.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
The Nursing home was clean, the staff was friendly. My mother's stay was comfortable. The staff was attentive, but I am somewhat concerned that the was not a good staff the patient ratio. While visting my mother no one checked on her, this could be because they did not want to disturb the family and although my mothers condition was serious she had no breathing or other problems that needed to be continuosly monitored. The nursing home was easy to get to and there was plenty of parking and the parking lot was well lit. The rooms were of a good size and allowed for several visitors. The Nursing home is located in a good area, and seems to be relativly secure. I did not however see a security guard, and in this day and age a security guard may be a good idea at this facility. One added benefit of this Facility is that It is just several minutes to the local hospital. If your loved one would have a serious medical emergancy getting them to the hospital quickly from this facility should not be a concern.
