I am/was a resident of this facility
What a great place to live! Besides the beautiful grounds, and the potential for a city park to be built behind the facility, there are always fun activities going on, and very friendly staff to meet your needs. The most exciting amenity is the well-appointed wellness center, with a luxurious warm water swimming and exercise pool. The food has improved over the past two years, so that it now is almost like a high quality restaurant. The laundries are community, not individual, but that's not difficult to manage. The common areas have been recently updated. Though not lavish, they are quite comfortable and conducive to interaction between residents. Shorewood has won awards for several years for best retirement living in Rochester. I agree!

I visited this facility
We did visit Shorewood Senior Campus. It was very nice. I didn't think it was on a par as far as appearance with the other community, but it was very nice. The people were welcoming and helpful too. I saw some card playings, and I saw the sites where they were doing other things. The dining area was nice, but not as spacious as the dining area in the other community.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
The Shorewood Senior Living facility offered both assisted living and independent living. The facility provided daily nursing care. This included assistance with her wound, bathing, meals and medication set up. An RN is assigned to do the medication set up weekly, while a nursing assistant does the personal care. The assisted living apartment was furnished with everything she would need. Lunch and supper were provided in a common area. There were activities available for her to attend if she desired this. The people were extremely kind and caring. Even when the client (mother) was not very happy to be there, we witnessed compassionate loving attitudes toward her. We found it inconvenient however, that she had to change apartments when she was no longer dependent on nursing care. She moved over to the Independent area, the apartment was not furnished. We moved her furniture in and it is very homey. Nursing care is available to her if she should need it, but it is similar to getting a home health agency person to come into the home. It is convenient for people who may need a surgery, have fallen or for whatever reason would need nursing care.

I visited this facility
My overall experience of the living facility was pretty good. The landscape was beautiful. they had a lot of flowers and the grass was green. They also had a lot of stuff to do outside and inside. Various activities took place. Also the people that work there are great. They are friendly, helpful, and very patient. Also, they have a built in cafeteria with great food. the people there are overall very friendly and everyone seemed happy and content. There werent any crazy people walking around screaming, or making obscene gestures. Also, the city of Rochester is also a great place. It is where the mayo clinic is located so if one were to have any medical problems they are literally minutes away from the best hospital in the US. Rochester is also a big city with roughly 100,000 people, but it is also not too big. It is a quaint little town with doctors and people that work at IBM.
