My last experience with an assisted living facility was rather OK. The facility itself was very nice. From the outside it looks like a really nice place, quite big and clean built. Inside it was spacious and clean, everything was well organized and looked to be running well. The residents rooms were nice as well. They had their own bathroom with a walk in shower/roll in shower for someone in a wheelchair, and their own window and closet and a twin sized bed. There was a large common area where residents would meet in and do various activities, like play cards, bingo, etc. Meals were served 3 times daily with small snacks in between, and you had a selection of what you wanted each time. The staff was friendly and seemed capable of their job. The reason I rated the facility 3 stars is because during the stay of a relative there, this person was injured. They had fallen out of their bed twice and injured their foot pretty badly. I look down upon the fact that they did not do enough to prevent that accident happening. After the first time, they didn't take any precautionary measures to prevent it from happening again. So it's not so comforting now to have someone stay there because you feel they don't put full effort into making sure the area is safe for the resident. Another thing that occurred was, the staff did not brush this persons teeth or shave them, simply because they couldn't find the amenities in the suitcase of the resident. So that person went a while without being taken care of with those things. That is completely wrong and they should have had the stuff they needed. So after all, they were not capable or reasonable enough to go and get a toothbrush or razor and do their job. So after those two incidents, this assisted living facility would not be the first choice on my list. Everything else was fine, but the staff was not reasonable at times and didn't care as much as they should have.
