I toured Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation. The tour was so-so. The guy that took me around was like a director or something there. He didn't know if they had any vacancies or whatever and he didn't know if they were taking new people, so he didn't seem all that knowledgeable to me for being a director. They have double occupancy. They have a couple of single rooms, but not many. They have an outside area, which is nice, where you could go out and sit. The building is old. They still have air conditioners sticking out of the walls. The people there seemed very happy. The employees seemed very nice, too. They say they take memory care of patients, but I saw no specific area for that, so I was just not very impressed with them.

Norwalk Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has been most pleasing to accommodate the needs of my mother. They have friendly people and good service. It's a clean facility. She has meals provided for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and she likes them for the most part. She's been in two rooms. One that she would have shared with somebody, but there was nobody in it, was an adequate size. Now she's in a private room, which she's also pleased with. It's also just adequate for what she needs. She has her own separate bathroom within that room itself. It's kind of like a little studio size. They have a schedule of activities every day for at least three days a week. They play bowling and do an exercise with music that she likes to participate in. The residents are welcome to come out into the community gathering room at any time if they want to play cards or do whatever. Television is accessible as it is in their rooms. There's a big patio to the back side that we've been able to get out to recently with the warmer weather. If guests were to come with children, there's a nice little playground area for them.

Our beloved Mother spent the last 11 months of her life at Norwalk Nursing and Rehab. Was it perfect? Nothing ever is. However, the facility was very receptive to our concerns and immediately addressed them. Our mother was fortunate. We were there to watch over her. While we spent time there with her, we observed that there were others who had no one. Their family was the staff. Everyone from housekeeping to food service to CNAs to nurses to the administrative staff loved them as their own and watched over them. Their dedication and compassion showed in everything they did. When we initially visited the facility, we all noticed how clean it was, and we saw that there were long-term employees who were their because it was their calling. We truly believe our mother had exemplary care while she was here on earth. We were humbled to see love in action every single day. We would recommend this place to anyone who has to make the difficult decision to place their loved one in a facility. While the facility may not be state of the art, it is most definitely "state of the heart."

I visited my grandmother several times and witnessed first hand the genuine care and compassion the staff has for her. My grandma really enjoys the activities they have especially bus rides to look at the fall leaves or Jolly Holiday Lights. We're very happy she's found a nice home.

I placed my Dad in this facility and was blown away by their caring and attentiveness to my father's needs. The place was clean inside and outside and my father enjoyed the activities. I can't say enough positive things about this place. It really gave me piece of mind to know my Dad was taken care of.

I toured Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation and that's the one I like out of all of them and that's the one I want my mom to go to. And that's also close to me. This nursing home has memory care and they work with her in the same way that an assisted living memory care unit would do, only they're more round the clock. They still have the same offer and the same things as assisted living like bingo, crafts, and music. They have beauty salons on-site and physical therapy there to help her. It's not just like your old-fashioned nursing home where she goes to lay in a bed all day long. I've only met a couple of them, but they all seemed very friendly towards each other. There was a lot of camaraderies and joking back and forth. To me, it appeared like they all got along very well and were happy with their workplace. There also appeared to be several people so they were not short-staffed by any means. The rooms weren't top of the line. Some of the assisted living places were luxurious looking. These were not quite as fancy, but they looked like they could be homey. They provide the bed and all the furniture. She would be in the semi-private if she went on Medicaid, and she'd have a private room as long as we're paying. It looked clean and everything was taken care of. There wasn't anything that looked like it was broken and needed to be fixed. It's not a very big place. I think they said they only have 40 residents at a time. The dining area looked like it was in the same area where they do the crafts. It is just a big open area at the front of the building. It's the main community center. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was clean and nice. Everybody was able to sit and have room to do whatever they needed. The tables were big. There are probably nicer aesthetic-looking places, but it looks like it's going to be a good place for her.

My mother came here for rehab a few months ago. The hospital social worker and a few of our friends in town recommended them and I'm happy they did. We were impressed with her overall care and their communication with all of us siblings. Hopefully she won't have to go back, but if she needs therapy again, we will bring her there.

The worst place and experience for my mother following open heart surgery. The administrator boldly called my daughter into a room & yelled at her for asking about my mom & her grandmothers care. My daughter is a nurse, has medical POA and had every right to ask about care. In 21 days in this facilty, my mother made a grilled cheese sandwich. Not what I call a 5 star rehabilitation center.

I spent 8 months as a resident of this nursing home. The caregivers, except for one, were wonderful. Things were done with love and care. The problem is that they are understaffed and underpaid, but those who were there when I was there were wonderful loving people. They did all they could do, there just wasn't enough at times. One person, a nurse named Roxy was the best ever, always cheerful and loving.

This center has been great so far. My grandma is here. Very sad situation but the care takers are very nice and it is a small place. So hopefully they are getting a lot of attention. No odor and very clean. Keep up the good work and bless you for taking care of our loved ones.
