I toured Grand Brook Memory Care of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills. It's a very nice new place. Very nice facility. Very clean. The management was very friendly and helpful. The residents whom I saw in the hallways seemed very happy, well cared for, and well attended to. The food smelled good; I didn't eat any food. There was no distasteful odor in the place like stale urine smells or things like that. But they don't have any vacancies right now.

At the Grand Brook Memory Care of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills, when you first come in, you have to get on a computer and fill out a whole bunch of information. You have to wear a mask and you have to put on a name tag. It's clean and it had a nice dining room, but the staff didn't impress as much as over at the other place. We just felt like they weren't listening as well to us about the person we want to put in there. They just went through their speech of what was going on there, but they didn't listen to us about my mother-in-law, about what the needs and stuff that she wanted or what she was like as a person or anything. We didn't see anybody doing any activities, but there were activities for them. The staff who assisted me was a nice lady. It's a nice place, but we just thought that the other place was a better fit for my husband's mother. The staff needs to listen more about the person that we want to put in there because it just seems like she was giving us the sales pitch on what to do and what it was like. She wasn't listening to us about what my mother-in-law needed or what she was like. I think they need to listen more to the people that come in there asking, wanting to put their loved one in there instead of her giving the whole sales pitch about that place. She needs to say a few words and then let the other people talk and let you tell them what they are needing also.

I was very impressed with Grand Brook Memory Care of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills yesterday. I cannot believe that their prices would be less than what I'm paying now. It's terrible where my husband is now and I was so worried about moving him to somewhere else and thinking I'm just going to have to pay so much more. Grand Brook is a little bit less. I can say that it was wonderful. It was spotless, and the cleanliness was good. The first thing that struck me besides the friendliness of the lady that toured me was just how beautiful it was. You walk into this grand living room and it was like going into a fabulous, expensive hotel. It was just beautiful. As we toured down, she showed me the eating area where they all eat together. There's a granite top counter thing where, any time during the day when they're not formally eating, they can stop by and have coffee or tea or something to eat. Each resident has a key that they wear on their wrist or around their neck, that locks the door to their room. Now all the staff, of course, have keys that they can go in. That's been such a problem where my husband is now. This one man in particular just keeps coming into his room, and he has to shout at him to get him out. Here at Grand Brook, he can lock the door. They have another thing which I think is marvelous. My husband has not been outside in a year. When he was transferred from one place to another for evaluation or something, that was the only time he was ever outside. He spent all his time in his room. At this place, they have an enclosed courtyard where they can go out and be outside, sit or look at the flowers, or have games they can play. It's locked and they can't go out without the staff knowing but if they're out there in the courtyard, the doors work so that they can come back any time they want so they're not locked out. To me, the thought that he could go outside and feel the sunshine again is exciting. Where he is now in this nursing home, they have these little beds that are inch-high plastic mattresses. I know they probably do that because of incontinence and things like that, and, of course, it's a lot easier to clean. At Grand Brook though, it's like walking into a hotel. They have a huge, big, and comfortable bed, and a bathroom with a shower. I was just more than impressed. The only thing is that they don't have an opening right now so I'm going to go ahead and look at some of the others but even if we could do this in 6 months, that would be better than what we have now. I didn't see a lot of the staff but when I was sitting in my car, I got there a little early, one of the staff members came out to get some things out of her car. I asked her, and I said, "I'm here for an interview to put my husband in here. What is your opinion of this place?" She said, "Oh, I love it". She said she used to work 12-hour days, and here, she only works 8-hour days. The working conditions were just wonderful and the patient load was very good. She was also very sweet and very nice. That lady, the one that showed me around, and everybody there was very nice. I also noticed that, as we toured, the lady who assisted me would speak to everybody because they can walk around freely and she would speak to them. She knew all their names and things about them. I told her I'd like to live there myself. I would say the staff was very friendly and I'm sure that there are things that I didn't get a chance to see but from what I did see, I think they would be very helpful, friendly, and courteous.

Grand Brook Memory Care of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills was very nice and clean. It looks like a good place for memory care for my dad. I think they will be able to take care of him. Everybody seemed well qualified to do what they were doing and the rooms they provide were more than adequate. It's a premium facility.

My father is in Grand Brook Memory Care of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills, and it's going well. They have nice activities for the elderly. They keep them active. The best part is my dad likes to sing and they have a lot of music going on. The residents are too far gone for bingo, but they have exercises and they have a chapel. They have activities where they do circuit board work and arts and crafts. My dad loves arts and crafts, but he likes the circuit board work. The staff is very friendly and caring. The food is tasty and nicely presented. They need to improve on just mainly on the clothing that my dad wears. They get it mixed up with other people's clothing. Sometimes he doesn't have socks and sometimes he has somebody else's clothes. His room is nice, has big windows, and it's adequate. We're satisfied.

I toured Grand Brook Memory Care of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills, and I think it was the best actually, but there were no openings. I don't know the activities they provide per se, but the day that I visited, some of them were watching TV, and some of them were in a group playing with this little ball. They were beating it with a foam noodle. It was nice to just see them laugh and enjoy themselves. They had a whole planner; they keep the residents pretty busy. The other thing I liked was that the kitchen was open, they could go in if they want coffee, and it was set up like a house. And that is another thing that I really liked -- that it was set up like a house. There was a nursing station, but you could barely tell. They had a chapel, too, and it was a beautiful little chapel.

Grand Brook is beautiful, welcoming, and comfortable. I have nothing unpleasant to say about that facility. It was wonderful. They're very friendly and very helpful. When we called with concerns, they addressed them immediately. They're planning a birthday party for my father next month. Everything is going great. The dining area is very welcoming and very friendly, and it's like a big dining room that has a family feel to it. He hasn't complained about the food.

Grand Brook Memory Care of Rogers at Pinnacle Hills has a lot of activities. They have a central patio area where they have barbeques. They have a karaoke night, so they keep the residents busy and out of their rooms. My husband was in a private room which was kind of like a motel. He had a queen-sized bed and a walk-in shower. The TV is a separate cost. He said the food wasn't very good and that breakfast was served cold. It was away from everything yet they're close enough to take the residents to Walmart or the drug store if they need to go. It's a lovely facility. Joy who is in charge of everything is very outgoing, involved with the patients, and knew everybody's names. She was just a lovely person to deal with. I just think they're a little understaffed, but they're brand new. The place was very clean.
