Combination of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia is quite common. Fortunately, all medications that are used for treatment of Alzheimer's disease are also effective in treatment of this mixed dementia. The most important thing for your husband is to control his blood pressure and cholesterol levels to decrease risk of another vascular lesion.
