Best for Affordable Hearing Aids

Founded in 2018, Lively was acquired by the Danish GN Group in 2021. The New York-based company uses a direct-to-consumer business model that makes it easy for anyone to access hearing aids and audiologist services. In fact, Lively customers can complete the entire buying process, including the initial audiology assessment and continued adjustments, from the comfort of their own home. Its business model also helps keep costs low with savings that are passed on to the customer. While many other brands charge over several thousand dollars for hearing aids, Lively has three models that cost under $2,000: the Lively 2 Lite priced at $1,195 per pair, the Lively 2 Plus priced at $1,595 per pair, and the Lively 2 Pro priced at $1,995 per pair.

In addition to selling hearing devices at prices below the industry average, Lively also offers its customers the option of financing their hearing aid purchase. A 24-month payment plan with 0% APR is available for those who qualify. Three years of on-demand assistance and follow-up care with audiologists are included as well with all Lively hearing aid purchases. Buying Hearing Aids from Lively

Purchasing hearing aids from Lively is quick and convenient. Lively offers a short hearing test designed by audiologists that can be completed online or, alternatively, customers can upload a recent audiogram to the Lively website. Hearing aids will be programmed based on the test results (or the audiogram) and arrive at customer’s doorsteps within days. After receiving their hearing aids, customers attend a video orientation with a licensed professional who will discuss their history of ear health as well as hearing goals. Hearing aid wear and maintenance will also be covered during this orientation, as will the fit of hearing aids. Specialists will assist wearers through the process of ensuring a proper fit with an ear measurement tool that is included in each Lively Kit.

The licensed hearing specialist will also help establish a connection between hearing aids and the free Lively smartphone app. This app helps wearers’ control their own hearing aid settings as well as request remote adjustments from Audiology Team members. In addition to Audiology Team professionals, customers will also have access to the Lively Care Team 7 days a week for any additional assistance they need. Three years of Audiology Team follow-up care and three years of Care Team support are included with all Lively hearing aid purchases.

Lively’s Mobile App and Accessories

The Lively app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. It allows users to change their hearing aids’ settings discreetly, without needing to use the physical buttons on the hearing aid. They can also use the app for on-demand assistance and consultation with audiologists who can make sound adjustments instantly and remotely. This remote, on-demand audiologist care is included free of cost for three years with all Lively hearing aid purchases.

Beyond a mobile app, Lively also offers many high-end accessories. These include the following:

  • TV Streamer: Available for $299, this accessory streams TV and other types of audio to hearing aids, essentially transforming them into wireless headphones. Users can pair this streamer with the Lively app to balance the TV volume with any background noise for clear audio at distances of up to 22 feet.
  • MultiMic: A portable microphone capable of streaming voices and other sounds to hearing aids for better listening in large spaces or noisy environments. Functional at distances of up to 82 feet, the MultiMic retails at a price of $275.
  • Phone Clip+: Also doubling as a remote control, this clip-on accessory streams calls and music from older Android phones or other Bluetooth-enabled devices to hearing aids. Priced at $199.
  • Lively 2 Plus Charging Case: Customers who want a second charging case in addition to the one included with their rechargeable hearing aid purchase can buy one for $250.

Lively Hearing Aid Warranties and Repairs

All Lively customers are eligible for a three-year manufacturer’s warranty and three-year device loss and damage coverage, both included in the cost of the device. The warranties go into effect on the date of purchase, and if a hearing aid does need to be repaired under warranty, the original effective date remains. Outside of the three-year warranty period, customers can still send their broken devices to Lively for repairs, though they will need to pay for the repair (if the service cost is going to be more than $50, Lively always consults the customer before performing any repairs).

Under Lively’s loss and damage policy, the replacement device must be for the same buyer and the same ear as the original device. There is a $195 per-unit deductible for the loss and damage coverage plan. In some instances, Lively will ask the customer to return the damaged or defective device, and if the customer fails to do so within the specified time frame, they may be charged for the full cost of the replacement device.
