COVID-19 Update: With social distancing and stay-at-home orders, many seniors are struggling with loneliness and isolation. We’ve developed a list of products that caregivers or seniors can purchase to help older adults stay happy, healthy and connected, whether they are aging in place at home or in an assisted living community.

Best Customer Experience

The values of simplification and ease also carry over into customers’ purchase experience. Lively customers can complete the entire buying process from the comfort of their own homes, including the initial audiology assessment and continued adjustments. Customers first complete the doctor-certified hearing test online, which audiologists use to program each pair of Lively hearing aids specifically for the individual customer’s hearing. Three years of on-demand assistance and follow-up care with audiologists is included free of cost with all Lively hearing aids, so this easy customer experience continues beyond the purchasing process. Not only does Lively’s direct-to-consumer model and use of technology help keep costs lower than the industry average, but the audiology services are easy to access and require no copays or long wait times.

Lively’s hearing aids are always purchased directly through Lively, and a payment plan with 0% APR is available for qualifying customers.

Lively’s Hearing Aid Models

The Lively Hearing Aid

pair of white lively hearing aids

Lively currently offers just one model of hearing aids, aptly called the Lively. The Bluetooth-enabled devices are always sold brand new, so customers will never receive a previously used, refurbished hearing aid from Lively. Customers have their choice of seven different color options for the small behind-the-ear piece, intended to blend in with most users’ hair color. This camouflage effect combined with the in-ear-canal receiver makes Lively hearing aids nearly invisible.

The sleek devices pack some of the most advanced FDA-approved tech in the industry into its small package. With 12 adjustable frequency channels, the Lively can be adjusted to personalize each pair for the user. It also auto-detects voices and focuses on those sounds, so users can hear people clearly even when in noisy environments. The device automatically adjusts its settings when a user changes environments, but users may also adjust the settings on their own using the Lively mobile app. Lively hearing aids are also equipped with four different presets for different environments, such as restaurants and sporting events.

One of the most appealing features of the Lively, especially for those familiar with using mobile apps, is its compatibility with iOS devices. Lively is an MFi (made for iPhone) device, which means that iOS users can pair their hearing aids with their iPhone or iPad and stream music and take calls directly from their Lively hearing aid. All users also have access to the Lively mobile app, compatible with both Apple and Android devices.

Sold as a pair, a set of Lively hearing aids cost $1,450 with a size 312 battery or $2,000 for the rechargeable model. In addition to the hearing aids themselves, the cost includes the Lively mobile app, 3 years of remote follow-up care with an audiologist, a 3-year warranty and loss and damage protection plan. Lively offers free shipping and returns as well as a generous 100-day trial period with a money-back guarantee.

Warranties On Lively Hearing Aids

All Lively customers are eligible for a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty and 3-year device loss and damage coverage, both included in the cost of the device. The warranties go into effect on the date of purchase, and if a hearing aid does need to be repaired under warranty, the original effective date remains. Outside of the 3-year warranty period, customers can still send their broken devices to Lively for repairs, though they will need to pay for the repair (if the service cost is going to be more than $50, Lively always consults the customer before performing any repairs).

Under Lively’s loss and damage policy, the replacement device must be for the same buyer and same ear as the original device. There is a $195 per-unit deductible for the loss and damage coverage plan. In some instances, Lively will ask the customer to return the damaged or defective device, and if the customer fails to do so within the specified time frame, they may be charged for the full cost of the replacement device.

Lively Mobile App

The Lively app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. It allows users to change their hearing aids’ settings discreetly, without needing to use the physical buttons on the hearing aid. They can also use the app for on-demand assistance and consultation with audiologists who can make sound adjustments instantly and remotely. This remote, on-demand audiologist care is included free of cost for 3 years with all Lively hearing aid purchases.
