The client loves her day caregiver, Margaret, very much. When she's off, she is missed a lot by the client. She also likes the night caregiver. They have had a positive impact because they're always listening to me and respecting my wishes as well as the client's. They have helped by honoring her as a person with her own wishes and wants and really making an effort to communicate with her and accommodate her at all times. I like the caregivers that care for the client. I find that the office staff is attentive and responsive and they do listen to what you're asking or requesting, which is good. I can't think of having any kind of problem with them personally.

The caregivers help me with my meals, taking me shopping, rearranging furniture, and since I have a movement disorder helping me in and out of the car alongside plenty of other things that I need done in my life due to my age. I like the compassion that the caregivers exhibit despite the tough situations they sometimes deal with, so I'd certainly recommend them.

If I needed them long term, I would prefer the same people to come in each time. The constant rotation is hit or miss. Sometimes, I get someone who is pretty good, and sometimes, they are not so good. I would like to see the people come in have a little better nursing knowledge. One of the people that came in had difficulty taking my blood pressure.

My caregiver has the ability to cook meals, which is good. They have an obligation to make sure that the caregivers from other countries have the same hygiene habits that we do. I have a caregiver who doesn't smell good.

With other caregivers that we've had, I could see her a little bit more active and engaged, but the one now is frustrating her. She has to tell them to clean the lint out of the dryer. I don't get that they don't get it. There's been two of them that I had to have write a list of their responsibilities that they're supposed to do from their company. There seems to be some lack of understanding in doing some tasks. I tell them to keep the bathrooms clean, and that has to be constantly reminded which is annoying. I haven't been with them for that long. We went on vacation and then came back and the caregiver assigned to her was going on vacation, so we went with somebody we had known for a while, but then the lady came back.The lady who comes out and talks is nice, but the universal problem with the company is that the people who are hired are not on the higher education level, and some common sense things you can't teach. It makes it very difficult sometimes, and she has fallen once so when we're gone, we want somebody to watch her just in case. But I've noticed that she is more anxious to do something than they are, so for somebody more active with more intellect, we shouldn't have to put in a dime in somebody to say clean the lint drawer out in the dryer, and when spices run out put it on the list, and things like that. She lives with me and my husband and we have work and other things and we need the assistance, but I feel like I'm constantly making lists for what they're supposed to do with her and her room. If there's a glass that's been there two days, it needs to be washed out.

My husband is in an advanced stage of ALS, and therefore has very specific needs. The caregiver who has worked for us for over six months has the skills to attend to my husband's every need, and is pleasant to work with. If a caregiver needs extra help at first, Tim will send a nurse out to assist, and if we need a caregiver to fill in while our regular caregiver is out, he makes every effort to find a competent replacement in a timely fashion.

If an Olympics were designed for home care teams, then Right At Home (Santa Monica) would easily take the Gold Medal. Dad is 92 years old, and Mom is 91. They’ve known each other for some 80 years, been married for 69 years, and lived in the same house for 49 years. Both have been healthy for ages, enjoying traveling and eating out….until now. Dad had to be rushed to the hospital. In order for Mom and Dad to age in place, and remain in their own home, we turned to Right At Home for assistance. Little did we realize that was one of the best decisions that we have ever made. The ‘we’ are four sons, spouses, and four grandchildren; all of us are pleased as punch with the care that Mom and Dad are receiving. We began with two 2-hour shifts, but had to go to 24/7 after more trips to the hospital, along with a long stay at a rehabilitation center. No problems; Right At Home was there with caring staff no matter what was needed or where Mom and Dad were: home, hospital, rehab center. They helped with transportation, logistics, cooking, cleaning, and recommendations. Advice and assistance was freely shared, and they went above and beyond the call of duty in many ways. A simple example: Mom had to be taken to the hospital while Dad was at rehab. The separation for them was traumatic. To the rescue comes Right At Home with a brilliant idea; Dad’s caretaker uses her cell phone to call Mom at the hospital, so the two of them can at least talk to each other. Little things like that make a big difference. The ad says “You’re in good hands with Allstate”, but you are in excellent hands with Right At Home. The staff is professional, dedicated, compassionate, thoughtful, caring and doing whatever they possibly can to make Mom and Dad comfortable. I recently needed transportation from hospital to my home, as well as the running of several errands on the way. "Right At Home" had a package that included four hours of service with transportation by a Nurse Assistant. The Nurse was on time, professional, courteous and welcome company. The cost was only $95.00 - which I think is a bargain in this environment.

My father passed away in February 2013 and my family was suddenly placed in a situation where we immediately had to arrange care for my mom who had been diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment and was unable to live alone. I spoke to Tim at Right at Home West Los Angeles and he was able to help our family find a full time care giver, Makeda, who was wonderful . It was not easy for mom to go from living with her sweetheart of 60 years to having to rely on in home care and essentially having a stranger move into her home. I was staying with mom until we got the placement and Tim worked with us to ensure a smooth transition. When Makeda left to go back to school, Jamie took her place and was equally as wonderful. Since that time we have been able to have family stay with mom and no longer need the live-in caregiver provided by Right at Home, but still use Right at Home three days a week to help mom with bathing. It has worked out beautifully. I would highly recommend Right at Home West Los Angeles to anyone looking for in home care for their loved ones. All of the personnel have been loving and caring to mom and Tim has been very responsive when our needs change. I used Right at Home for several months to assist with the care of my grandmother. The service providers that worked for us were very professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. The administrative staff is very proactive and were readily available to the point that if the provider was going to be late, the administrative staff came out and sat with my grandmother until the provide arrived. This service is excellent if you need good reliable and dependable care for a loved one.
