I visited this facility

Mt. Bachelor Memory Care was a very depressing place for me. They had a calendar full of activities, but I saw people just sitting around there when it was supposed to be an activity time. There wasn't much staff, but the ones that I met seemed friendly enough. For the amount of money, it probably was a very good place. I didn't care for the rooms and the shared bathrooms. They may work for some people but they wouldn't work for my sister. The marketing director who assisted me was new and she didn't have a lot of information, so they had a resident show me through with her.

Provider Response

We appreciate your feedback regarding the activities and community layout. We understand that shared bathrooms may not be suitable for everyone. As part of our Montessori programming, we aim to have residents fulfill a social role, such as having a previous Homes and Garden saleswomen as our community's tour guide, or a retired concierge as our Office Assistant so they retain a sense of purpose throughout their day. We will take your comments into consideration for future improvements. If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to email us.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I think the staff at Mt. Bachelor Memory Care, the workers there, the helpers, and the nurses, were amazing. I think they were fabulous because they understood my situation when they realized that my loved one was not supposed to be in the memory care. They constantly talked to him because he had no one to talk to. Everybody else was so advanced in dementia and the loss of their memory. So, it was very warm to see how much they cared about him. Mariah, the director, was horrible. There was no compassion. The smell was horrific. I wore my mask, but the odor was just terrible. That was the worst part. He never ate the food, so I always had to take him out to eat all the time for two weeks when he was there. They need a remodel and everybody should have their own bathroom. They only had a couple of rooms and shared bathrooms. My loved one had a shared bathroom with a gentleman who couldn't use the toilet, so he used the floor. It was disgusting. We were there for almost two weeks until I could get him a new place, but I loved the people who worked here (the nurses). Thank God for them because they entertained him and communicated with him because literally, there was no one who could talk except him.

I visited this facility

What I liked about Mt. Bachelor Memory Care was their actual focus on memory care activities. They had a specific philosophy and program in place to keep people productive and help others. They focus on the "here and now". They have a program similar to Montessori schools/Montessori philosophy in terms of helping people be their best with what's going on with them. That was impressive. The place was very clean. It's really big. They had decent rooms, a beauty salon on the premises, a little theater, and a library. The director was very kind and friendly. They would take people downtown whether for outdoor activities or trips. So, they make sure everybody gets out and is active.

Provider Response

Thank you Bonnie, for the kind review. We are happy to hear that our staff is providing a clean space. This ensures all our residents feel comfortable and cared for.

Mt. Bachelor Memory Care is a newer facility. The quality of service that I got, as far as callback, information, and then them following through was really high. My dad is in the memory care. I can't go into the facility because of the executive order from the governor, but my dad seems pleased with it. I don't know about the inside of the facility, but the outside of it is very well manicured and the building itself is a nice facility. They have several activities, like they play trivia and they have been decorating the Christmas tree. They have a lot of interactions.
