Is my wife presently entitled to a higher benefit amount?

A fellow caregiver asked...

My wife began receiving a monthly social security benefit in early 2007 at age 62 based upon her own work history. In late 2008 at age 64, I began to receive a monthly benefit based upon my own work records and at that time, we did not request a change to my wife's benefit amount. My question is: After I began to receive benefits, is my wife entitled to receive 50% of my benefit amount if the amount of her initial benefit in early 2007 is less than 50% of my benefit amount? Thank you very much.
