I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
One word this place brings to my mind: regret. My mother was here after having completed skilled nursing following a stroke. She went into the bathroom without help where she fell and broke her hip. I understand that these things happen; however, the problem I had was that the staff didn't call until several hours AFTER my husband dropped by to visit and was told she had been transported to the hospital. Thus, six hours had passed between her breaking her hip and me receiving the phone call as her POA to tell me what had happened. Unacceptable. Then when she returned to the home they were supposed to get her started on therapy for her hip, but they dropped the ball on that, too. By the time Leisure Village had obtained authorization from the insurance company, she was too sick with a UTI to participate in therapy. Even so, they had no plans to send her to the hospital until I called and she didn't even know who I was. I had to DEMAND she be sent to the hospital. At first the nurse said it would be up to the doc. Let me tell you that as family or POA, you can override the doctor and have your loved one sent to the hospital, regardless of their recommendations. After returning from the hospital again, within a few days she had yet another infection that required hospitalization. And again, you guessed it, I again had to initiate the hospital transport. Needless to say, when she exited the hospital this time, I moved her into an entirely different facility. At this point, however, the treatment from the other two infections resulted in her contracting c-diff, from which she never recovered. In my experience, this facility discourages residents from seeking medical attention outside the facility. Also, the delayed and/or lack of communication is alarming. Bottom line is this: if your loved one becomes unable to advocate for him or her self or is unable to use a phone to call you, then this is not the place you want.

I am a friend or relative of resident
Word to the wise, do not EVER place a loved one at this facility. My father was supposed to rehab there for 3 months but we moved him at the 24 hour mark. If I had not gone by to check on him chances are he would have not been with us today. He was gravely ill and it was obvious by looking at him. It had been hours since he was checked on. The whole experience was bad from the beginning with this place. Nobody seems to take responsibility for their mistakes there. It went as far as the director blaming the hospital for discharging him at night. Appalling is the nicest word I can use for the care and compassion at this place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
My mother was at Leisure Village Health Care for six weeks. It was kind of a skilled nursing/Alzheimer's unit. She was there for a short time, but she developed a stage two decubitus ulcer there. Actually, it was the only place that I really had a choice to put her. Had I done my research, I would not have put her there. I wasn't impressed with the care there. I went back a week after she left this place, and her room had not been cleaned. It had not been touched. There were cups with straws in it. It was unsanitary, and it was not acceptable. Regarding the staff, when I was there, they were fine, but it was only because I was there. As long as I was there, everything was on the up and up, but when I was gone, I was not pleased with them. Also, I don't think their food was good either.

I visited this facility
My brother and I tried to tour the facility when looking for a place to put my father. We waited 20 minute and could never get anyone to give us a tour, even though the lady in the business office called several times to get someone to show us around. Does not speak well to me.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
All of the staff members were compliant and pleasant to be around. They were helpful and just seemed to love being there, helping and caring for the needy. The entire place seemed to have a openness about it. The only complaint I would have is the quality of the food. It doesn't seem to have any nutrients to it. Just an example; the spaghetti didn't seem to have any sauce, it was like it was just noodles and fake beef. Other than the food everything, overall, is five stars. The residents, for the most part, are enjoyable to talk to and love it when people of the younger generations come in and spend time with them. Leisure Village allows family and friends to come in and celebrate with a resident, letting them throw a party or just spending time in the rooms. In the center of all the rooms, is an outdoor patio. The flowers are beautiful and the entire space is well kept. Leisure Village is a place I would recommend.
