I am a friend or relative of a resident
The staff was good and caring. They did not seem to be overworked or assigned too many residents to care for. There was at least one daily activity offered. The activities were at a level that fit the residents. There is usually one outing a month in the van for those able to go. It accommodates wheel chairs. Smoking inside was not allowed, which is a good thing for the health of all. Those who wished to smoke were escorted into a center courtyard, covered with a flameproof apron, and given one cigarette from the pack they purchase themselves. The packs are kept locked at the nurses' station along with matches or cigarette lighter. The residents are not to possess these items. The meals have a set menu with an alternate entr̩e, usually leftovers from the previous day's meal. The main meal was in the evening. Food is served in a dining hall with assigned seating. Trays come up on a cart on a dumbwaiter from the kitchen below. Those too ill or infirmed to come to the dining hall are served in their room from an insulated food cart. The trays have an insulated cover. Most rooms were 2 person. Very few private rooms. Several rooms were 3-4 bed. It is an older facility. There is no place for a resident to be other than in their room or in the dining hall.
