My mother was in Hathorne Hill for rehabilitation. I found her high as a kite on Oxy, soaking wet in urine-soaked clothes, in a dark room with the shades down at 12:00 in the morning. No breakfast, missed meals. It was terrible. I was on the phone with my mother at nighttime, and she was crying in severe pain. When I called the staff to find a nurse, no one would answer the phone. Finally, I called 911 to have them do a health check on my mother, and I received a call back from the management stating they were a little busy serving dinner. The facility was nice, but they were shorthanded.

My father was in this facility for approx 3 months- first as rehab patient, then long term care. Several times when I went to visit between 11-12 in the morning, he was still in his Johnny, in bed, with the shade drawn. I was told that there was a staffing shortage. He was soiled and had bed sores. I asked for a psych eval to be done, emailed the social worker at least 3 times. She never responded and the eval was done a month later. He was a private pay patient. I would never recommend this facility for a loved one

There was a couple of incidents with the staff while my 84 year old mother with Parkinson’s was a patient at this facility. First one is I had asked to see the med sheet while visiting. I discovered they were mis-dosing her Parkinson’s meds. The next thing happened before I visited but was not made aware of. My sister who was visiting with our mother called me after I left from the first incident and told me that my mother had called the police the past night after a night nurse assaulted her. She wasn’t able to tell anyone until later, because of her being unstable and intimidated. The nurse came in her room while she was sleeping and tried to remove her undergarments to change them. They were not in need of changing and my mother didn’t want her to. The nurse then forcefully took them off . My mother dialed 911 from her cell phone. The police came to her room and the staff intervened with the conversation. The Hathorne never contacted me, as proxy, nor did they mention anything about it while I was there or to other family members visiting. It was later confirmed that this did in fact happen and they were sorry and tried to convince me to keep her there. Of course I didn’t keep her there. I can understand that she may have been confused, but to hide it from me and then not record it, was even a bigger red flag. When they have to hide these things, it doesn’t make them look innocent.

The quality of service and food was the best of the other facilities of the kind I have visited. We were so impressed that we returned on Mother's Day with a plant for the Lunch Room. One day when I was visiting there was entertainment for 2 hours by a musician that played songs that all could and many did sing along with.

My grandmother was transfer here all the way from Cape Cod so she could get the best Rehab experience and closer to family. The staff there went above and beyond caring for her and making her feel safe in a new facility. Which is often difficult for persons with dementia. When it was time for here to transfer out to a new assisted living facility, Amy Merrow the social worker, made it so seamless for her and our family. The facility itself is like a hotel, my grandmother had a private room but even the semi-private rooms were clean and spacious. They even have a hairdresser on site and plenty of activities for patients to socialize.

I am certainly up set with the review all ready said. My sister had been in Hathorne Hill for over 8 months. I visited her every day during her stay. She was a very sick person with Cancer and a broken hip. She got the most wonderful care on all levels of therapy given to her. All her meds were on time and no screw up. The place is as clean as a hospital. Plenty of daily activities to keep her busy and enjoy. The rooms are a good size for a wheel chair and they have plenty of outs side activities. If they want friends they can go to each room and make friends and visit. If need be it would be the place that I would go to.

Please do not even consider this rehabilitation center. Nursing aids very incompetent did not use good hygiene and the rooms had terrible odors. Meals were served an hour or two late and occasionally they forgot mine. I kept telling them I was sick but they did nothing for several days. Doctor said I had pneumonia but nothing was done. Finally was sent to the hospital where I was in critical care. Only had a knee replacement that turned into poor after care by Hathorn.

Awful. My Room was dirty, the bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned from previous person who had stayed in the room. Just a terrible experience. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

This facility is terrible . They need to hire doctors that care for their patients, not ones that want to push for end of life. My mom was there for six weeks spoke to the doctor once . His main concern was changing my mom's code status.

My mother stayed at Hathorne Hill, and it was a fairly new facility. We liked the level of care and the cleanliness. The employees themselves had experience, knowledge, and they were focused on their patients. I thought they enjoyed working there. My mother participated in some activities. They had a community center. They had anything from singing to dancing to birthday parties and field trips. The rooms were not like the typical long-term facility where you have two people in a room, though they were separated, you still used a common bathroom, but you had your own separate area that you lived in. Every patient's bed had a window. I had tasted the food and it was very good. They also had a diet specific for the residents that were living there. They made changes on the go. My mother had special requirements, and they recognized them.
