I visited this facility

Wheatland Village is kind of like the extreme nice facility. It's beautiful. They had everything you'd ever want in a facility, beautiful exercise rooms, a pool, and the cafeteria. The dining area was beautiful. There's nothing not nice about the place. They had the full vegetarian menu available. They had a little church. It's just a very, very nice facility. The price was nice, too. It's a little more expensive than the others. Also because it is so nice, it is usually full. There were lots of activities and lots of things for the residents to do. The rooms were beautiful. They were more like apartments and set up very nicely. Even the studio apartments were a step above other facilities. Their cafeteria used to be set up, I doubt it is during Covid. It was open to the public. You can go in and order off a menu, so I've eaten there several times. I didn't really interact with anyone. It was very limited.

I visited this facility

I took a tour of Wheatland Village and it's independent living. They have assisted living down the line if you should need it. They have everything that you would possibly need. There's an ice-cream parlor there, a chapel, and a dog area. The apartment is big enough, even as a one-bedroom, and it's really nice. The halls are wide and they're not like a motel. I liked it a lot, and you don't have to have three meals a day. I don't need three meals a day; that would be a waste. They have a pool, and the exercises are really nice. The exercise room is huge, and I'm big on the fact that they have exercise classes. They have a movie theater and a bank.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad has moved into Wheatland Village. It's very nice, and everything is very clean and orderly. The staff members are incredible, tuned in, friendly, and caring. We just found everything about it to be exactly what we were looking for. They have a person who does physical activity, they can lift weights on a machine, they have a bus that will take them downtown or wherever they need to go, they have scheduled walks with different groups, and they can walk around the outside of the facility for exercise. The dining area is really nice, and they just remodeled it, like they put in new carpet, new tables, and new chairs, and they painted the walls too. As for the food, my dad is pretty picky, and so far he hasn't turned anything down. There is a swimming pool, a hot tub, a workout facility, a library, a bank, and an ice cream parlor that is open from 10:00 to 3:00, and you get free ice cream. I found everybody to be most helpful, considerate, patient, and kind. The place is very clean and very well organized. They clean my dad's room, and they do his laundry. They're just on top of it. Everything is just outstanding. They don't have just assisted living there, they also have people that are just retired and living there, so there's a lot of activities, and it isn't just a bunch of older people sitting around in wheelchairs or walking around in walkers. There's energy and life in the place because of the people that live there, and that inspired me and my dad as well.

I visited this facility

We went to the cottages of Wheatland Village. This was adjacent to the general hospital, and we liked it a lot. They had a new Alzheimer's unit opening, so we went to that. They had an ice cream shop, a beauty shop, a little theater, and a swimming pool. They had a lot of amenities. The apartments were really nice as well as the little cottages. The food was really good, but it was catered, so I am not sure exactly what their regular meals were. It had everything you needed. Another thing they had was a little store so if you ran out of something, you can buy it on site. You do not have to leave, which was really nice for older people.

Wheatland seemed like a real nice place but I think it's too expensive. The staff was friendly and they had activities, games and outings.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

After taking care of my father for 4 years, along with the help of my mother, It got to the point were we knew "Dad" needed a little more help. He Has Alzheimer's. It was SO hard watching my parents move from the house I grew up in, to this retirement center, but after seeing the caring compassionate community this is, I know my father is in good hands, along with the help of "Seniors Helping Seniors" My father seems to be living a fuller and much safer life. I thank the staff at Wheatland Village for their care and concern.
