COVID-19 Update: With social distancing and stay-at-home orders, many seniors are struggling with loneliness and isolation. We’ve developed a list of products that caregivers or seniors can purchase to help older adults stay happy, healthy and connected, whether they are aging in place at home or in an assisted living community.

Best for High-End Design

Signia is a top-quality brand owned by hearing care company Sivantos, which operates in partnership with Widex. Signia is currently one of the top three hearwear brands in the world, offering groundbreaking technology and fashion-forward style to hearing aid users. For this reason, we have included Signia’s new Nx line of hearing aids among our top picks for the best hearing aid models of 2020.

The Nx line boasts some of the smallest hearing aids available. This is even true for Signia’s tiny behind-the-ear Nx hearing aids — a style that is usually somewhat bulky. Signia shoppers have more color choices than most other brands offer and also have the option to change the housing on their device at any time for a new color. Signia also provides a long list of proprietary sound and noise management programs that make Nx models more capable hearing aids than devices from many other brands, delivering clearer and more directionally sophisticated sound.

Below, you’ll find the relevant specifications of all Signia Nx models, as well as their pricing and compatible apps and accessories. Though we have not included Signia’s older hearing aid models here, the company offers nine such models in their Primax Star line which, in some cases, may be slightly more affordable than the Nx series hearing aids detailed below.

Signia by Sivantos Hearing Aid Models

Signia offers an optimized fitting and recommendation system that helps hearing aid retailers ensure that customers get their best fit. Signia also provides TeleCare 3.0, providing live remote tuning to assist with rapid and effective troubleshooting.

Pricing for Signia hearing aids is based on the technology level the user chooses for their hearing aid, and all Nx models come in 7x, 5x, or 3x levels. Because prices are based on technology levels and not which model you choose, it’s clear that Signia’s line of Nx hearing aids was created to offer something for everyone at predictable prices.

All Signia hearing aids feature tinnitus therapy, and external wear models have exchangeable housing so that users can switch to their desired color at home. The Pure Charge&Go Nx, Pure 312 Nx, and Silk Nx models are all available in CROS configurations, which stands for Contralateral Routing of Signals, and is intended for people who have unaidable hearing loss in one ear.

Styletto Nx

The Styletto Nx is Signia’s premier hearing aid for people with mild to moderate hearing loss and is the world’s first SLIM RIC. It sits behind the wearer’s ear and looks much like any Bluetooth earpiece, featuring a sleek, brushed metal finish that comes in three colorways that can be changed for another finish by the user. The Styletto comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery and a compact charging case that fits discreetly in a pocket or purse for portable rechargeability. Signia also offers the Styletto Connect, which features Bluetooth streaming to connect wirelessly to other devices with no accessory purchases necessary.

Pure Nx

signia Pure Charge and Go hearing aid

Signia’s Pure Nx line includes four RIC hearing aid options for mild to profound hearing loss: the extra-small Pure 10 Nx, the Pure 13 Nx with a more powerful battery, the feature-packed Pure 312 Nx and the Pure Charge&Go Nx, which comes with a rechargeable lithium ion battery and a charging case for rechargeability on the go. Whether sitting, standing or on the move, wearers of the Pure Nx models will experience supreme sound quality. Using a smartphone, users will also be able to stream audio from their TV, navigation app, or radio directly to the Pure hearing aid. Wearers can choose from 11 colors.

The Pure 312 Nx and the Pure 13 Nx feature own voice processing, and the Pure 10 — the most discreet option in the Pure line — functions fully automatically with no physical buttons. The Pure Charge&Go Nx and the Pure 312 Nx both come in alternate versions: the Pure Charge&Go X and the Pure 312 X. These come with Signia Xperience, a new technology that incorporates motion sensors into the hearing aid’s ability to adapt to changing sound environments.

With this model’s advanced technology and made-for-iPhone capabilities, wearers will experience crystal clear audio when streaming and many experiences will have a more natural sound, including hearing one’s own voice.

Ideal for people with any level of hearing loss, these ready-to-wear hearing aids come with a variety of click sleeves to ensure a quick and easy fit. Despite their small size, these hearing aids have a high level of sound quality and powerful listening features. Wearers will be able to hear and understand speech in relatively quiet or noisy environments. Those with single-sided deafness will benefit from the CROS option that transfers sound from the unaidable ear to the more capable ear, giving the wearer the sensation of hearing from both sides. Silk Nx hearing aids are also clearly color-coded to help users discern the right aid from the left.

As with Silk Nx hearing aids, these custom-fit in-the-ear models are small but powerful. Signia Hearing Aid Apps by Sivantos

myControl

This app turns the Signia hearing aid wearer’s smartphone into a remote control. As modern smartphone use is so widespread, passersby probably won’t realize the hearing aid wearer is making adjustments to his or her device when they use their myControl app. Users will be able to change the volume level of the microphone, control the hearing program, adjust sound balances and the tinnitus therapy signal, use the spatial configurator to set directionality, monitor their exposure to sounds, and more. The myControl app is compatible with the Styletto Connect, Pure Nx models, all Motion Nx aids and Insio Nx models.

myHearing

myHearing’s listening exercises and guided assistance help wearers get familiar with any Signia hearing aid model. The app also includes a user guide for troubleshooting any issues that may arise. If users are unable to solve their problems with the user guide, they can use the app to connect with their hearing aid professional via text or voice chat. Users can also control hearing aid settings such as volume and directionality with the myHearing app.

easyTek

With the easyTek app, users gain control of Signia’s easyTek feature and their hearing aid’s programming. The app lets users stream sound from their favorite audio devices, check the battery status of their hearing aids and change hearing programs.

touchControl

touchControl is another app that acts as a remote control for Signia hearing aids. As with the other hearing aid apps, users can change hearing programs, adjust the volume, mute or unmute their hearing aids, make adjustments to balance the sound and more.

Hearing Test

The Hearing Test app does exactly what its name implies; It lets users test their hearing. The app was developed by Signia audiology experts. Users can check how well they hear words in a variety of sound environments. However, consumers should note that the Hearing Test app should not be used as an official audiogram test.

Signia Hearing Aid Accessories

StreamLine Mic

This accessory uses voice commands to stream sound from any device via Bluetooth directly to Signia Nx hearing instruments. Hearing aid wearers can also use the StreamLine Mic to make and receive phone calls. When in crowded environments, it acts as a microphone so that wearers can hear someone within 65 feet of them more clearly.

StreamLine TV

Signia hearing aid wearers can use StreamLine TV to listen to their favorite television programs in their hearing instruments without disturbing anyone nearby. Users will even be able to adjust their television’s volume to their liking.

Remote Controls

Signia’s remote controls are great for those who prefer to control their hearing aids without a smartphone. All Signia remotes are easy to use, and the miniPocket fob is small enough to carry on a keychain. In addition to having a hearing impairment, many seniors have problems with their eyesight. These consumers should opt for the easyPocket remote as its buttons are large and its display is easy to read. The Noahlink Wireless programming hub can also provide easy, wireless hearing aid programming.

eCharger

Wearers of Signia’s Charge&Go hearing aids with built-in rechargeable batteries will require this small, portable charging case that can house their hearing aids and charge them while the user sleeps. It refreshes, recharges and dehumidifies the hearing aids in six hours. Once charged, hearing aids should deliver maximum performance for up to 18 hours. Wearers will know their hearing aids are fully charged by the indicator light. Furthermore, those who want to travel with the eCharger can purchase a Signia car adapter accessory to keep their eCharger’s battery full.
