We moved into the Holiday Courtyard at Lakewood. I'm quite pleased and happy. I think they're doing a pretty good job. We've just gone through a big painting, and more is coming, so they're keeping it up. They have a good library, movies many times a week, and exercise class 4 or 5 days a week. I wish it was a little bit more. They have three floors, roughly 42 units per floor, and I think they're identical, with the exception of a few of them that have two bedrooms. Ours is one living room and one bedroom. It's quite adequate for two people. They have a driver four days a week.

The gal who took me through the Holiday the Courtyard at Lakewood was very helpful. I would give her an A-plus. She was great. It's a lovely facility. If I was making a decision now, it's a facility I would definitely consider. Everything was just really positive. It was a good experience. Everything was stellar. It was clean and beautiful.

Holiday The Courtyard At Lakewood was a nice place, but they recently had a flood which was a bit disappointing. The person who gave me the tour was very nice, very friendly, and knowledgeable. The apartments were older. They redid them and they looked nice, but they were small. I looked at a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom apartment, and they had full kitchens. There was a courtyard in the center of the buildings because it was a hotel at one point.

We are hoping to move into Holiday The Courtyard At Lakewood this month. It was a 5-star facility, and everything was clean and fresh. The residents were friendly. The apartments were spacious. For the 1-bedroom apartment, we were impressed with how big it was and we liked the private patio. The staff was friendly, patient, and they answered all of our questions. They introduced us to some residents so that we could talk with them about their experiences living there.

I went to Holiday The Courtyard At Lakewood. They didn't have anything open at the moment, but they said in a couple of months that they probably would have because they had some people that were going to move out of state. Most of the amenities were nice. They had a good inside recreational area where you can watch movies, play a little pool, and things like that, which I thought was kind of nice to have. They had a good laundry service if you needed it. The outside area was fairly decent. They had some open areas and things set up with picnic tables. I thought it was pretty good the way they had everything set up. It was nice and it was easy to access to everything. They served meals. I would rate them as a really good place. They were very friendly, very pleasant, and very helpful to everybody. If anybody needed any help, they said all you had to do is pick up the phone, push one button on it, and it connected with the front desk, and they would send somebody down to your room to help you get to where you needed to go and all that. And I thought that was fantastic. They were very good at explaining everything and letting you know what their services were and all that.

My brother has moved into Holiday The Courtyard at Lakewood. The staff has been very nice. We haven't seen too much of the ground since this winter, but he does have a nice apartment. They're served three meals a day, and my brother goes down for meals. He has a second-floor apartment. They do have a courtyard, but we haven't done anything there. I had a meal there; I find the food very good. My brother likes it, he said it's fine. They do have activities, like bridge and dominoes.

My dad has moved into Holiday the Courtyard at Lakewood. It's wonderful. The staff seem very attentive. The place seems clean. I think my dad's going to really enjoy it and thrive. They seem wonderful and kind. As for activities, it looks like they're having a good time. They have a library, a workout area, a woodworking station, and a little store. They do bingo, and it looks pretty fun. The room is perfect for a single person.

I have toured Holiday The Courtyard At Lakewood. They have been great. I was so surprised the day I first came to take a look, Megan (marketing, I guess) had even a sign that says 'Welcome' that was right there inside the front door. Of course, I had my daughter take a picture of that because who knows if I was going to live there or not, but it was just such a nice thing. I met the activity director. The whole overall atmosphere there (like the dining and community center) was appealing to me. I found that there was a west-view apartment toward sunset, so that's the one I'm going to take. It's very hard to leave the kid's home, but I need a social life. I can't be so isolated. Family isn't enough, that's all I can say. When you're older, you need some peers and action and stuff, which I believe The Courtyard At Lakewood will give me. I don't think I saw a chapel, but they have Catholic communion once a week. No Protestant services that I heard of, and I asked because I'm a retired United Methodist pastor. Their library is part of the big community room. It has nice couches, several sofas, and tables sitting around for people. People were working on puzzles and stuff, and they had an activities director. Another selling point for me was that they have a van, and as long as I ask, they'll take me to doctors in the Lakewood area or the grocery store. All I have to do is request a trip to the store, and that's going to be a big plus for me because I don't drive. I did not go down to the activity room, but I understand there's one downstairs. It seems very clean. It's built in a rectangle so that all the buildings have an outside balcony or patio. In the middle, there's a courtyard that opens up. It's pretty nice. In the warm weather, they have tables and umbrellas out there. Four different people are helping me, and they have been very good to work with.

We liked Holiday The Courtyard At Lakewood very much and that's probably where we'll wind up when the time comes. The people were very, very friendly. They were willing to work with you, they have excellent customer service, and they seem to care. We tried the food there and it was excellent. The whole place was very clean, and very nice, and had access to everything. They were wheelchair-accessible and ADA-compliant. Nothing is ever perfect, so we're not giving them the highest rating just yet.

Holiday The Courtyard At Lakewood seemed clean. The main lobby area was dark, but the overall facility was nice. I liked the apartments. It was an older building, but it was well-kept. They had a lovely staff and they provide activities that were sufficient to meet the residents' needs. There was a very large courtyard that they've just added to, and it looked like they're making more improvements to that area. They also had an activities room. I was given a dessert, and it was good.

The tour experience I had at Holiday The Courtyard At Lakewood was great. What I liked about the place was it's walkable to the light rail station. My unit will have a balcony that looks out over the grass line and the trees. I was told that during the wintertime when there are no leaves, you'll be able to see the Denver skyline. I also liked the way the dining area was setup. The place looked very clean. They have movie nights, a library, and televisions for the residents to use. Maintenance were on top of everything. The lady who gave the tour was very helpful. She worked with me and got me in their place. The whole staff were also nice and friendly. In the center of the building, it has a big old patio where they're starting to put out chairs and umbrellas. Then around the building, they have grassy areas. It's located in a regular neighborhood, so if I were to walk through the area, I'd be walking in an actual neighborhood instead of just commercial buildings.

The Courtyard at Lakewood independent living just seemed very dated when we walked in. There was a smell to it too. There seemed to be more assisted living people there than independent living people. The person who assisted me was very nice. They didn't seem to have many amenities. There weren't any parts outside to walk around on too so I'm not sure what they have as we didn't see much. We only saw a model room so I don't know what the other rooms look like. The model was fine though.

We already placed our mother in The Courtyard At Lakewood; it was wonderful. The lady that we work with, I believe her name was Kelly. We were going to try to wait until the 1st of December to move her, but due to other things, she helped us in a week with everything that my mom needed. All the paperwork, everything got done and she got her in there in a week. She was amazing, she helped us contact the doctor, she helped us contact the home that she was in, and she helped us get all the paperwork we needed. She was wonderful. My mom took quite an adjustment for the apartment, but after the adjustment, she's doing wonderful there. The staff was wonderful. We had to have some modifications made to the apartment and they were more than happy to do that. We had to do a lot of paperwork because of the switch from an in-home doctor to another doctor, and they were very good with that. They were helping us send fax there and helping us notify them where she's at. It was great. And when she moved, they helped us get her stuff into her unit because she was on the second floor, and the apartment was in a building. The apartment was nice. My mom had a little hard time adjusting because she was in the convalescent home where they were doing everything for her, and they were very nice about it and just willing to help her. The food's great and they still have a kitchenette so that they could cook for themselves. But they can also go down and they were offered three meals a day. It's in a beautiful little area, and they have an outside courtyard right in the middle of the building. So they can go out, and they got picnic tables and barbecue pits, so the family could come. My mom took her wheelchair and got on the light rail to go explore downtown, which was amazing. They do a lot of stuff; they have movie nights and they have game nights. My mom likes to write stories and stuff, they allow her to start a little newsletter. And so she does the newsletter now for the facility. They have days out where they take everybody shopping or take everybody to places that they want to go. It's cool. Most of her family are from out of state, and you can rent an apartment for $75 a night, to stay there at the facility with the person. I don't have to stay in my mom's room, but they have a room that I can rent for $75 a night when I go see her. They were wonderful with us. The staff came up and introduced themselves to her and all of us. And anytime we needed anything like if we needed paperwork from the convalescent home, they got it for us. We need to remodel a little bit and we need bars put it in certain areas, and they came and put those in. We had to have her doors on the inside of the apartment taken off because of her wheelchair, and they took those off and they've been wonderful. My mom says the food is really good, she enjoys it. The nice thing is she's not just eating sweet stuff in her room, she's getting food. The value for the money is amazing. Because we looked around, and it was going to take almost all of her income to accommodate her in a senior living facility. Where she's at now, she has a lot more money left over for her every month, and we were amazed. So it is very good value for the money.

The staff of The Courtyard at Lakewood was not professional at all. The place was filthy, and I looked at four apartments and the floors had settled so badly that they were not flat. It was extremely outdated. There's not a nice thing to say about it.

We toured The Courtyard at Lakewood. The one thing that turned us off was it was not clean. Nothing in there was clean: the hallways and the one room the staff took us in to look at. She told us it hadn't been cleaned. The hallways, the elevator, and everything -- the place was not clean. There were residents about, but the place was not clean, and we did not care for that. It looked like a nice place, but it's very outdated, and one thing I didn't like was it had a huge courtyard but absolutely no grass. It's all cement, and then it's dirty. There were residents out and about. We showed up around lunchtime, so a lot of them were in the eating area. One man was zipping around in his wheelchair. The residents seemed to like the place. The room was very outdated. The whole place was very outdated. It needs updating. The staff we met were very friendly. We met some of the maintenance staff. I asked the lady about cleaning staff, and she said they were very shorthanded. We met one of their people who comes in and helps with taking care of them, their maintenance people, and the lady who showed us around, and they were all very friendly.

The Courtyard At Lakewood was excellent. I liked the facility, and the location was excellent. It looked like they have plenty of activities and plenty of space in the facility. The rooms could be updated a little bit because it's a little smaller than the other facility and older, but the lady who gave us the tour was wonderful and did very well. They have a storage area, an activity area, an underground garage, a large community room, and dining area. The meals are all included in the rental price. It seemed that the residents were engaged in a lot of different activities of their own, and they were very active and involved.

My friend is moving into The Courtyard at Lakewood tomorrow. The staff is top notch. They really did a great job in helping me get my friend to move in. Sarah even drove on a holiday to make sure that my friend was able to sign the contract in time to get in on a special deal, so she really went out of her way and personal time to make it happen. Everything in the facility looked very clean and very neat. There were people working on things while we were there viewing the place. It looks like they really keep a quick response on light bulbs that need to be changed and things like that. There was a schedule of all sorts of activities for the day too.

My mother lives here and it is awful. The food is horrible, she once had a salad with worms in it and a sandwich that had mold. The last straw was on Easter 2021 when my mother needed a wheelchair and Wanda the desk clerk said there might be some downstairs, my husband looked and there weren't any. I asked Wanda what we could do and she said well, I guess you are SOL. I told her wrong answer and she said well this isn't assisted living ya know. Wanda also has been rude on many other occasions but I never expected her to say SOL to me. She also has delivered my mothers packages to the wrong resident on several occasions. I have complained but I have never had a response. They honestly don't care about your loved ones. My mother is moving very soon and I can't wait! Don't live here you will regret it.

The Courtyard at Lakewood was fine. It seemed basic and no frills, but adequate. They offered plenty of things to do, and the people seemed friendly. They were doing some activities in the community room at that time, but with COVID, it's probably in a socially distant way. It's a fine facility, but it's not quite what we're looking for. We didn't meet too many staff members, but they seemed fine also.

My mother is at The Courtyard at Lakewood, and it's been very good. The staff is very attentive, kind, friendly, and they've gotten for us anything I've asked for. She has a one-bedroom apartment. They have Bingo, a fitness room, a therapist that does exercises with the clients, poker nights, ice cream socials, a big game room, puzzle room, movie room, library, laundry room, and a store. Meals are included in her rent, but she has a full kitchen.

The Courtyard is situated in a quiet neighborhood near an RTD light rail station. The facilities are adequate and there are varied daily activities. The staff is friendly, but there is constant turnover. Meals are too often only mediocre in quality. Unfortunately, management is predatory. They are not forthcoming about their pricing, and annual rent increases are arbitrary and exorbitant. Do not stay here There are other places that are friendlier and more affordable.

I loved The Courtyard at Lakewood, but it was very expensive. I lived there for a month. The food was fantastic and so was my apartment. I did exercises, bingo, and Pie Mondays, which was fun. It started out being pumpkin pie and then they started doing all kinds of pies. I really liked that place. They took the residents gambling at Black Hawk once a month. Every Wednesday, they go to Wal-Mart and Walgreens. They had a wondeful salad cart with raisins, nuts, and dried cranberries. The chef was so nice. We had daily trivia questions at the dinner table. Randy, Georgina, and Mark were all really good and always available. I liked the people there.

We ate at the Courtyard. They put us with the residents’ table, so we got to talk to them and get a feel for how they felt about the place. The person who was giving us the tour had left us with them just so that we could talk privately, which was very nice. The food was good. We thought their maintenance was a little lacking. There was a limited number of elevators which made it a long way for the residents sometimes during busy times. I had used a rest room, and they were out of toilet paper. It wasn’t dirty, but it felt like it had been a while since somebody had come in there and done anything with it.

The Courtyard was OK, but I didn’t think it was as well kept as the other facility I visited, and the staff wasn’t as friendly. They didn’t seem to be prepared; the person we had the appointment with wasn’t there, and they never bothered to pass the information on that we were going to be visiting as they were not expecting us. It didn’t impress us at all. It’s not clean, older, and not much space for the amenities that they had. They had a very large room that they use for everything, and they just change furniture around if they needed it. They are doing art classes, exercise, and bible study, and they use the dining room for a lot of different things.

The Courtyard was very institutional, and even the courtyard that it’s named after is a concrete courtyard; it looks like a prison yard. They’ve got a few garden beds for the residents to do some gardening in, but there’s no other landscaping at all. The staff seems nice. The whole facility looked like a renovated factory to me; I just don’t like that. The rooms themselves seemed to be large; I guess it was one of the few facilities that have full kitchen in each room. It seemed to be clean as well.

I was pleased with The Courtyard, and I thought that was the solution for my mother. It looked very nice; the people seemed very nice, and everything there was very nice. It really appealed to me; however, the whole decision has kind of been taken out of our hand. She had to go to the emergency room, has been admitted to a nursing home, and will end up in long term care. We discussed the activities -- although I didn’t see a lot on our visit -- but I was impressed with all of it. The dining area looked fine.

I liked it very well. The single room that I like is the most expensive one. I don't know if I can afford it. Another thing is I am having a lot of pain lately so I don't know whether I can stay in one of those apartments. I have eaten there once, and the food was very good. The room that I saw and liked could probably sit most of my friends and made me feel like home. But the rate is a bit more than I can handle with my medical. The staff was all very friendly. They have underground parking. They have a whole month full of activities to do. It looks like they are very well organized.

It's great here at The Courtyard Lakewood. The people here are very friendly, very warm, and welcoming. I've been here about 6 weeks now. The staff is fabulous. Anything that they can do to help has been great. The food is pretty good. My goal is to lose weight so I can get my knees redone. I've lost 11 lbs., and I'm not starving. The rooms are fabulous. I wish I had done this sooner because I retired in 2010. It's just your chance to get out and to meet people and not be all by yourself. The upkeep is wonderful. They have a staff who comes in adnd oes light housekeeping. The entertainment director is a darling. She does everything she can to try to get the folks involved. They have everything from crafts, Wii bowling, pool playing, puzzles, movies and popcorn, they challenge other communities to bean bag baseball, and they have trips to casinos or out to lunch. There's a huge variety of activity. The director here works really hard to keep people active and interested. The people are so fabulous. The oldest person here would be 105. Probably the youngest person, who is a Navy veteran, who was injured, and so he's here in a wheelchair, and he's just adorable, I think he's probably about 47.

I visited this facility

The Courtyard at Lakewood is a very nice place. It is older than the other facility, but it has the same kind of amenities. The apartments are very nice. They have a kitchen, refrigerator, and stove, so you can cook if you choose to, though I don't know why you would want to because food is part of the cost. Food is good; they have a good chef. They also have a good marketing staff. There were a lot of activities for the residents, like theme-type parties. They might have people who come in and provide entertainment, like different music groups, jazz, or luau-type things. They did have all kinds of different activities. They have people who come in and do haircutting, and they also have a shuttle, which is part of monthly. Aside from that, they have below-ground parking if you have a car.

I visited this facility

I like Courtyard At Lakewood. It was just in the wrong location and town for me. The staff was courteous, but I didn't get a chance to know them very well because I only visited. I saw a one-bedroom there and it had plenty of rooms. Overall, Courtyard at Lakewood was a nice place.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My husband and I stayed at The Courtyard at Lakewood for only two weeks because it was not an assisted living facility. A woman named Marie talked to us and she was very convincing. I thought it was an assisted living facility and she made me believe that. She told me that someone would take me to my doctor's appointments and I learned that a couple of days a week, a van took people around. But if you got on the van and got to an appointment, you stayed on. It was not being picked up so you would get to an appointment and brought home which was one thing that I needed. It was an independent living facility with meals. It was not what my husband and I needed, and then I found out she left. The apartments were small and the bathrooms were also too small to get around in. It was very dangerous. It was awful and a nightmare. They should not lie about what they provided and how they provided it.

Provider Response

Hi Martha, thank you for your review. We are not an assisted living community, nor do we advertise that we are. We apologize for any confusion or miscommunication that may have occurred in this instance. We hope to get a second chance to show you how great our leadership is. Thank you
