ss taxes

If I start to collect SS benifits at age 70 and my monthly benifit is aprox. $3000 a month, half of that is $18000 a year does that mean I can have other income up to $14000 a year and not be taxed. Does this mean I will have $36000 plus $14000 for a total of $50000 a year with no taxes free and clear?
