I visited this facility

I toured Alden Estates of Orland Park. The people were very friendly. The patients' rooms looked good, nice, and clean. They were taking care of the patients very well. They have activities going on in different ministries. They have physical therapy. Some of the patients could eat in their rooms. If they have gas, they have particular places where you could take your gas and be somewhat in a private area. They also had an eating place for the residents who lived there. The staff were friendly. Everybody that I met, or the staff as I was walking through, were very intensive and very friendly.

The people I spoke to on the phone were wonderful. The nurses were great. The CA staff found many ways of not caring for the patient. My friend was at the end of a hallway. Only once did a staff person check on the patient. The phone and call light were usually out of reach. The PT however was awesome.

My husband has been to a couple of respites. Just recently he was at Alden Estates of Orland Park. I thought it was nice. I didn't really get to see much of the inside because of COVID, but when I did pick him up, he seemed happy and well cared for. There were no bedsores or anything, which has happened before in other places. The staff seemed caring and nice. Whenever I call, I get good information, as I was out of town.

All my husband clothes where gone. Told them not to take his clothes to laundry they did any how. He had brand new clothes due to weight lost . The one lady at the front desk is so rude and hateful. They sent my husband home with no supplies. Awful Awful Place.

I needed to use a bathroom after long drive to pickup a relative, was told " NO BATHROOM FOR THE PUBLIC" Was waiting over 40 minutes for my relative even though they were told I would be their earlier, Very uninterested and rude front desk person, had bad vibes about the entire facility. I would not recommend this place to anyone.my opinion poorly managed.

This place is awful and should be shut down immediately. The care is nonexistent. The staff are lazy and incompetent. They have left my family member unattended for hours in soiled diapers, did not turn him, change him, feed him...nothing. I will be taking this to the news as well as inquire about malpractice. Awful clearly awful place.

My mother spent 2 months at Alden in Orland Pk after a fall. She had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the staff; which we all thought were terrific ! Rehab went very well also!

I visited this facility

We had an awful experience. Moved my mom to a different facility after only two days. They knew she was coming from the hospital in advance. Gave her an old leftover bed they must have found in the basement. Was worn and lumpy and made a loud grinding sound every time it was adjusted. Didn't answer call light for over a hour so she had to wet herself. That was not a one time occurrence. Let her sit in the lunchroom for over an hour after breakfast without taking her to her room. Had no tv or visiting chairs until I raised hell. Arrived Sunday and gave her no soap etc until I was able to visit again on Tuesday and noticed. Forget it. I feel sorry for the people who don't have families to go there and supervise what's NOT going on. It used to be a nice place ten years ago. Sorry mom

I am/was a resident of this facility

Went there for knee replacement rehab. I was supposed to be on the orthopedic floor but was sent to the 2nd floor instead. I didn't need to be on the nursing floor. It was a bad experience. They are so understaffed as far as the nurses are concerned. There needs to be more than one nurse for two wings. When I could get around in the wheelchair I went to the nurses station to ask for my meds. I feel bad for the patients that have to wait forever for theirs. Had to wait forever for someone to get me to the bathroom at night. PT was very good. Food was good. I also didn't get one of my meds for four days because of an error in the computer. Thank goodness the doctor's assistant noticed it. That was totally unacceptable. Told them I would get better care at home. Cut my stay there short. I would never recommend this facility.

I gave 1 star because they didn't kill her. That is the best thing I can say about them. My mother was there in March and the overall care was terrible. She reported that the therapists spent their time on the phone and when they did speak to her it was only to tell her how much money she "owed" them. The nursing staff was a joke as well. The response to call lights was awful. My mother was not incontinent but began wetting herself overnight because noone responded to her light for assistance to the restroom. Asking a question of the staff usually resulted in a rude response. Forget about bathing. My mother only received her baths when our family complained that she wasn't getting them regularly. I would never recommend this place to a soul. Take your loved ones home.

I recently spent a week in rehab at Alden Manor Orland Park and was very pleased. The staff was pleasant and caring but the physical and occupational therapists were outstanding. My rehab was with 5 wonderful people, Kelly, Jonathan, Karlette, Dennis and Angelino. II'm sure i would not have come home as quickly if it wasnt for their dedication and concern about my health. I would definately recommend this facility and if I ever need rehab again that's the place i want to go to.

This place is HORRIBLE!! The CNA'S are NOT EXPERIENCED. They do not know what they are doing. I had three different CNA's tell me three different things. My grandmother needed to be repositioned and they never did it until I complained to management. Once I complained to management they started doing it and then stopped again. They don't clean the rooms. When a patient rings their bell It takes them 30 + minutes to come. There were so many times when my grandmother urinated on herself because it took the CNA'S so long to attend her. This is hizardous because if she was choking or in a real life crisis the CNA'S wouldn't know because they take their sweet time. My grandmother was left with no food for over 8 hours. The nurses and CNA'S do not care about their patients and their excuse is that there isn't enough workers on staff. This place is too expensive to not have the proper treatment. This place actually needs to be reported. TERRIBLE place!

Mom is at Alden Orland Park and Rehab. This nursing home is in a better area and better neighborhood. The rooms are clean, and the staff are pretty nice.

Alden Orland Park Rehab and HCC was nice, clean, and had friendly staff. The rooms were shared like a patient's room in a hospital. They had their own chef and an ice cream shop on one of the floors.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Alden Estates of Orland Park was a very nice place. I was taken care of very well in therapy. They had a really nice kitchen with tablecloths on the tables and served at least two or three hot meals every day, and you can ask the cook if you wanted certain things done in a certain way. The staff was wonderful. They took care of me, and if you weren't out of your room to go to your meal, they would come and get you. You could miss one meal, but you couldn't miss more than one. They would come and wait for me to eat. They would check my blood sugar and give me insulin shots. They were very good. As far as therapy goes, they were wonderful. They would come up, get you, and bring you back. Downstairs on the main floor where the therapy was, they had a free ice cream parlor. It was a very clean and nice place.

My mom was in Alden Estates (Alden Orland Park Rehab & HCC). It was recommended by the hospital. It was all very good, and it was a good experience. She was in a private room that was very clean and very nice. They had normal baseline activities like movies, depending on what group you were on. I liked that it was a round-the-clock care, and they were very attentive.

My father-in-law was in rehab. He was put in there by the hospital; it was called Alden, and it was a disaster. My dad couldn't wait to get out of it. He is used to home cooking, so he thought the food was terrible. My father-in-law has Parkinson's disease, and with Parkinson's, it is very important that you get your medicine on a proper schedule. Like if you say you have to get the medicine at 10:00, they actually say that they have an hour before or after when they can give the medicines. So if 10:00 is the official time, they could give the first one at 9:00, and then the next one that should be at two, they could give it as late as 3:00, so then it means that instead of being four hours between his medicines, sometimes it would be six hours between his medicines. And with Parkinson's -- since they do plus or minus an hour -- it can be actually six hours apart instead of every four hours. They could never give the medicine on a consistent schedule, and they didn't seem to have enough staff to really care for a patient like that. That was the biggest problem. One, if he is not on his medicines, he freezes, he can't talk, and he can't move, so it becomes even more of a problem. And then, the other thing was that they expected him to just pretty much be sitting up in a wheelchair all day, so they didn't engage him; they didn't do anything. And then, because after the medicine he is usually good for about two and half hours, they couldn't coordinate the medicine and the physical therapy, so they would bring him down to therapy before he had the medicine or they would forget to give the medicine. So he keeps getting out of his therapy because he was never given a drug. It was a little dated and a little worn, but it was generally clean. When we went in there, we had to clean his room and wiped everything down again because it just didn't look that great, but it was OK. Maybe they should just have more staff.
