Why I Care

"I have always been a caregiver. In my teens, both my grandmother and my great-grandmother were sick. My grandmother spent her final months at a hospice inpatient unit where my mother is a hospice nurse and my great grandmother lived down the street in a locked Alzheimer's Unit. I loved to visit both of them. I loved how they had taught me about God, music, and crocheting as a child. I enjoyed giving back to them when I would visit. I also enjoyed interacting with the other residents- entertaining them by playing games, dancing and singing. When I decided to become a social worker- I knew I wanted to work with older adults and their loved ones because of the special people in my life."
