Lead Developer

Description

As a Ruby on Rails and JavaScript Lead Developer, will work with product managers and other business stakeholders to implement RESTful services using Ruby on Rails, JavaScipt frameworks (including React), SASS/HAML, including real time systems (call-center system), a bidding platforms, and a B2B customer portal. Mentor interns and less senior engineers on development tools, coding standards, architecture, and development process. Perform code reviews that will gate release of code to production. Identify, prototype, and deploy new tools and techniques that will enhance developer productivity, such as data access tools, process automation (e.g., continuous integration), automated testing tools, quality tools (e.g., logging, exception tracking). Perform systems architecture: in our RESTful environment; advance our service oriented architecture by designing service endpoints, service APIs, and model interactions between services. Author systems documentation, covering software design patterns, testing methodology, tools. Prepare and deliver presentations on new technologies and best engineering practices.Caring.com is the preeminent destination for the 45 million adult caregivers in the US. We are seeking an experienced hands-on digital content expert to lead development of content for Caring.com and our other web properties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related field
  • 6 months of experience as Software Engineer, SW Intern, or related occupation
  • Must have coursework, documented open source project experience, or at least 6 months of experience in each of the following: 1. Ruby on Rails, 2. Web Development, 3. CSS/Sass, 4. JavaScript, 5. Modern JavaScript (ES5/6), 6. Programming with advanced JavaScript frameworks and implementing Single Page Applications with modern JavaScript framework, 7. Amazon Web Services, 8. Git/github, 9. TDD/BOD with Test, Unit and/or Rspec, 10. Call Center Systems implementation and operation
