I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law is now in Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line for skilled nursing. The reason we chose this place over others was primarily the nursing-to-resident ratio, along with the fact that they don't subcontract and hire outside. Wesley hires all their own workers, so from nursing, to kitchen, to facilities, to recreation, all of that is hired by Wesley in-house. They don't subcontract out to anybody. They are amazing, the facility itself honestly looks like a five-star hotel. The atmosphere is warm and homey, and every staff member is extremely accommodating, polite, pleasant, and just does anything they can. They've done everything they can to make the transition for him and the family enjoyable and pleasant. I like the fact that they take even though he was on a pureed/ground diet, they take a lot of attention to preparing it so that it's even visually appetizing. So he seems to enjoy it. It's an exceptional facility. He's relatively new to the facility, but once he's dressed for the day, they bring him out into the community room where he can engage with other residents. They have movies, they have a schedule of events like bingo and chair activities. There's a courtyard, but now that the weather's getting nice, we can take him out. When they have events at the facility, for example, this Sunday, they're having an Easter party. All of the residents can go to this, whether it's skilled nursing, assisted living, independent care, or any special events. They had a St. Patrick's Day party and things like that, and there's a director of recreation whose father has been a resident there for ten years. They had already come in and asked us what my father-in-law's likes and dislikes are. They have therapy dogs that they bring into the community. There are a lot of things that they do with them on a daily basis. For what we're paying, they're giving us a lot of value for the money and he's getting excellent care. They have a library there, they have a salon there for the residents to get their haircut, which he did yesterday. So I think there's a lot of value for the dollar. I'm so confident that he's been placed in the right place.

I visited this facility

Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line was very nice. It was in a neighborhood. So, it wasn't isolated or in a bunch of business complexes. They had a pool, a nice gym, a lot of classes, an art studio with pottery and a kiln, and a big library. I had lunch there. It was in the bistro and I could pick what I wanted. I had a sandwich and it was very good. The outside areas were also beautiful. It was very nicely kept and maintained.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

DO NOT ALLOW YOUR LOVED ONE TO BE SENT TO WESLEY ENHANCED LIVING. My sister recently experienced a health emergency that led to her not being able to walk or do normal day-to-day activities herself. Prior to this, she lived alone and was a very independent and active woman. She spent a few weeks in the hospital before needing to be sent to a rehabilitation facility for daily physical therapy. My sister was then sent to Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line. During my first visit to see her, everything inside the facility appeared clean and everyone we met was nice. Things quickly changed, however, and within a day it became clear that the nurses and aides at Wesley were not doing their due diligence, to say the least. When arriving for my second visit, the patient across the hall was screaming “HELP ME, GET ME OUT OF HERE” repeatedly. No one came to check on the woman, who continued to scream during my next few visits until eventually the nurses just closed her door and continued to ignore her cries for help. I tried to go to Wesley almost every day to see my sister. When I was not there, I would call for updates but my phone calls were never answered. My sister would call me on her own phone crying, and told me that no one would check on her or come to see her when she would press the call button for help. The nurses were giving her laxatives and then waiting close to an hour when my sister would press the call button for help to get to the bathroom. Even worse, my sister is a diabetic who needs daily doses of insulin. The nurses and aides were not being consistent about giving her the insulin, and one day during her stay her sugar levels were so high that they could not wake her up. The physical therapists were actually very nice, but since she was only with them for a short period of time every day, my sister was not moved around at all by the nurses and aides and eventually developed a painful bed sore. There was one aide in particular who I witnessed on multiple occasions come into my sister’s room and not speak to her or ask how she was doing or what she needed. She was extremely rude and was not treating my sister with any semblance of respect. During her final day at Wesley, my sister called for help to get to the bathroom. A nurse helped her up, and then left her unattended. My sister’s medical notes stated very clearly that she required 100% physical contact at all times when standing. Because she was left unattended, she lost her balance and fell backwards, hitting her head and getting a concussion. She was sent back to the hospital, and was so frightened at the thought of going back to Wesley that a caseworker from the hospital got involved to ensure her safety and transfer to a new facility. I spent every day that my sister was at Wesley worried for her safety and well-being and concerned at the care she was being given. Please do not send your loved one to this facility.

Provider Response

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I toured Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line about a year and a half ago. They've recently done a lot of renovations and refurbishing up there. I liked the fact that it was so close to all of my doctors and a couple of hospitals and shopping facilities. They had little shuttle buses that took you to various shopping centers and grocery stores. I just liked the layout of the area, the overall activities, the apartments that they had, and the floor plans. I was introduced to several staff. I felt as though they cared about you as a person. I was just impressed with the place. We had lunch there and it was excellent food. I'm a vegetarian so I can't talk too much about meat, fish, chicken, or whatever, but I told them of my dietary preferences and they accommodated me completely. It's absolutely beautiful. They just finished renovations and it is gorgeous. I have a family member in Wesley and I was just up there last Sunday, so I'm pretty familiar with the place now. The upkeep is beautiful. The grounds and the inside are just lovely.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Mom chose Wesley Main Line due to location, amenities and the indoor pool. The community recently upgraded their common areas and the result is much more inviting spaces. During the pandemic, Wesley sent frequent email updates on COVID-19 testing, cases and safety practices. They coordinated the vaccination process for all residents. Residents received wellness checks, meals and room maintenance when we were not allowed to visit. Wesley helps mom have a healthy and active lifestyle.

Provider Response

Thank you Linda, for taking the time to share your experience. We are excited that the vaccine process is well underway and look forward to returning to pre-pandemic status. We thank you for choosing Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line, and for your continued partnership and support.

With heartfelt appreciation From the perspective of this resident of Wesley Enhanced Living-Main Line, the initial protective vaccination (Feb. 9, 2021) against the Covid 19 virus for residents in Independent Living) was a well-planned, efficient, and tenderly administered program. Rich Block

The staff in charge of the assisted living are wonderful. They are responsive to questions and concerns in a timely manner. The single rooms are spacious and bright, newly updated. They are providing activities such as daily exercise and music as best they can with the covid restrictions in place. The community as a whole is amazingly beautiful, just recently renovated with lots of amenities. My mom can't wait to get back to the "resort like" atmosphere once the covid restrictions are lifted.

Provider Response

We are thrilled to hear that your mother is enjoying the activities and amenities at WEL Main Line, and also look forward to returning to "normal!" Thank you!

I visited this facility

Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line is an independent living place that also has assisted living. I liked the layout. They have independent living apartments, which are very nice and right on the periphery, so if you have an animal, you don't have to worry about the noise. It seems to be a very likable place. It has a movie theater and a library. All of the apartments are on the first floor, which is very nice because you can pull your car right up to the door. The dining area is very nice. We had our free lunch in the café, and the food was excellent. It was very home-like. The people who are living there were very friendly and seemed quite happy. The place was beautiful without renovations.

Provider Response

We are very happy to hear that you were pleased with your visit Janet! If we can provide you with any additional information or if you would like to visit us again, please don't hesitate to reach out to Pete or Lori. They'll be happy to assist you. We'd love to have you chose Wesley Enhanced Living as a place to call home!

I visited this facility

This facility is poorly run and there seems to be no management whatsoever. My aunt called me while I was out of town to tell me there had been no heat or electricity for four days because the generator was not working after a recent storm. When I got there I saw for myself that elderly frail people with compromised health were sleeping on the floor of the lobby where there was heat. Then she asked me to check in on her best friend who lived in the skilled nursing section, but that section was closed to visitors because of some sort of virus. Much to my surprise, the staff was moving between both sections spreading the illness. We could not call to find out how her friend was doing because the phone lines were also down. What sort of decent facility is not prepared for this sort of situation? We could be more disappointed with the management as well as the hygiene than we already are.

Provider Response

Thank you Tiara. The situation that occurred during the recent storm and power outage was challenging for everyone. Staff and management at Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line went above and beyond to ensure the health and safety of our residents during the PECO outage that affected not only us, but 300,000 homeowners and businesses in the area, over an extended period of time. Generators were working and in continual use in common areas of the building to provide for the warmth and comfort of our residents. Delaware County Emergency Department was contacted and promptly supplied additional heat to our skilled nursing facility and cots/extra blankets for all levels of care. They remained in 24/7 contact with our staff throughout this time to provide any additional assistance, as needed. Residents had the option to transfer to other WEL communities that were not without power should they desire. For those who chose to stay, additional meals and activities were also provided to minimize the inconvenience. Our Health Center had been under quarantine to visitors due to flu activity prior to the outage and in order to lower risk to our residents and the community at large, we were unable to lift it due to the storm. As always, our staff took every precaution including use of protective gear to minimize the spread of germs among residents. We have been commended by residents and family members over the handling of a situation that was clearly out of our control. Storms and viruses are a few of the more difficult challenges we face, and we were pleased with our staff who worked round the clock to make an uncomfortable and uncontrollable situation the best it could be for everyone involved. If you would like to discuss your aunt's experience on a more individual level, please feel free to contact our Executive Director, Rhonda Quinlan, at 610-355-7660. She will be happy to address your concerns.

Everything was very good at Wesley Enhanced Living. The staff was also very good, but it was just a larger community than what they were looking for. The residents look happy and engaged. Everything was very clean, and the apartments were large.

My parents enjoy this community, just because it change companies, the quality of care and amenities have continued from when it was Martins Run into Wesley Enhanced Living. The CEO Linda has help us if we had any problems that would arise. I would recommend this retirement community. It is more affordable retirement community.

When this was Manor Care, an independent facility it was fine. It was acquired by Wesley Enhanced Living about a year ago and things have deteriorated quickly. The care and compassion for the residents has decreased, the quality of food is questionable, they are raising prices on everything they can such as hair salon, etc.. They are even trying to charge their life care residents for things included in their contract. If my parents had known this was going to be acquired by Wesley and the type of service they provide they would not have seelcted this establishment.

Great community! The staff here at Wesley Enhanced Living Main Line has been wonderful to us, especially when me and my husband first moved here and I had health problems. They got me the doctors appointments I needed, and even went with me to one of my appointments. I cannot thank everyone in the wellness office enough! We picked this community because of all the extra activities and are extremely pleased with everything. I am especially happy to have been able to start up a beginners Canasta group.

Wesley Enhanced Living was very nice. I liked it, but it was a little too far from where I live now and I want some place closer. I was impressed by how friendly the people were, and the accommodations seemed decent. I was looking at a one-bedroom apartment and was surprised at how large the rooms were and the closet space. It had a very nice dining set up.

My husband is in Wesley Enhanced Living right now, and that is where he will be for a while. The nurses are really nice. They are giving my husband pretty good care. The staff is excellent. My impression of the whole place is that it needs some updating and maintenance, and I think they need more exercises for the patients. However, they provide three meals a day, and the food is excellent.
