I just moved here to Heron Pointe. I like the little cottage that I am in. I got my own kitchen, two bedrooms, a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and everything. You can get three meals a day and house cleaning twice a week. Everything you want is here. We do barbecues, bingos, and quite a few activities. The food is good. The staff are good people. They do what they need to do.

Heron Pointe is a lovely facility. They were very courteous, so this would be my choice if I was ready to do that. They have one nurse that reviews all the medical records. Overall, I was impressed with the building, it's just a very nice facility. They have levels of care that are from levels 1-4, and their rooms were very nice. I wasn't able to try their food, but the menus look very good and they have a lot of activities. They've got a full-time nurse on duty, they also have a physical therapist that comes and a coordinator for activities. It's pretty well-rounded and I think it suits a lot of people. I dealt with two of their staff individuals. The building looks brand-new and it's a certified care facility.

I toured Heron Pointe. I was shown the assisted living facility. It was very good. The dining area was large and brightly lit. There were lots of windows. There was a TV room and a gaming room. The staff said there were other amenities. Most of the residents that day were on a field trip to some place, so they were taking them to places to visit, and that was a good thing. I did not get a chance to taste the food. The staff was very, very nice, and very accommodating to my requests. I saw a one-bedroom. It was adequate, but it was a bit smaller than what I want. I met the receptionist and the marketing manager, and both of them seemed very nice and cheerful. The place was very nice, the grounds were well-kept, and the interior was clean and bright.

Heron Pointe was a very nice place. I liked them. The people there were very attentive, very helpful, and they provided a lot of information to me. It was just really helpful to me, and they had large apartments. The only staff I dealt with were the administrative staff and a nurse. It's a fairly new facility, and it's in great shape.

I have been inside Heron Pointe, and it is a beautiful place. The price is competitive. They accept Medicaid, and they also accept pets. Those are wonderful assets in the program that I am working on for my mother. We believe, at this point, that it is going to be a good fit. That is where mom wants to go. The building is beautiful, and so is the landscaping. There is a bank right there. She is very pleased with the people that helped her. The staff she has been very, very helpful. My mom liked the idea that they are able to offer even small activities during the time of Covid, and the things that she would not get at home.

I've been here at Brookdale Monmouth since it was Emeritus and then Brookdale took over. We chose it because it was close to our former home. My husband and I moved in to the independent cottages and then he had an illness and we moved in to the main building 2 1/2 years ago. He passed away in June and I'm still here. They have a full schedule of activities every day and it's up to the individual resident if they wish to participate or not. They have trips on a bus like shopping trips. Today, their bus load went to the casino that's about 35 minutes from here. I'm totally satisfied with the food -- it's good and I like it. There's a pretty varied choice and I can always find something that I'm satisfied with. We have a new dining service manager and a new cook and they both work together and put out good meals. We have a wonderful executive director.

Brookdale is too close to the road, has decent staff, and is OK and clean. The staff was friendly. We decided it was not a community that would fit our needs.

We were favorably impressed with Heron Pointe. It was clean, looked nice, and one of the cottages we went to is impressive. One thing that was a little negative is the proximity to Highway 99; there would be a little traffic noise. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a nice dining area, and the place would fall in the range of affordability. I would recommend this facility.

I did look at Emeritus. It was nice, but I don't think that I would want to live there. It was a little far out. I would like to stay in Salem proper because I'm really active in my church. I do a lot of volunteering for the food bank, and I need to be where I can make several trips a week to carry on my activities there. It was a nice place, and I go out there with a group every once in a while to sing, not as a guest, but part of a program that we have for singing for the old people. The residents were very old. I'm 87, but I'm not that kind of old. The dining room was clean and the people were just finishing their dinner when I went there. It looked very well cared for, and the people seemed like they were very happy. It didn't appeal to me particularly, but it was because my niece is there, and I wouldn't especially want to live in the same place that she was. That sounds strange, but I love her. That wouldn't be my place.

I visited and did some volunteer work for this facility in the past year. The majority of the residents seemed to really love it. The resident assistants are always working hard to meet the needs of all the residents, and were always willing to greet the visitors. The activity manager schedules several trips and activities throughout the week, ranging from shopping trips in the nearby towns, bingo, ice cream socials and many more. Special care and consideration is taken in towards the food, making sure that everyone is served in an orderly fashion and that their dietary needs are met. The residents are pretty active in the community, creating groups and activities like bible studies and opinion committees. It isn't uncommon at all to see the residents strolling around and meeting up in the dining area or the lounges throughout the day. The only thing I heard the residents say negatively about the place was that the management was sometimes slow to fix or implement new policies. Other than that, Heron Pointe seems like a nice place to stop by, or even consider living in someday.
