I have lived at Prairie Homestead for 14 years and am so grateful for this community. We are both neighbors and family to each other. The dining room is always full of friends and congeniality; there are plenty of well-organized activities; we gather in worship once a week; we have fun outings on our buses; all the staff are conscientious, kind and caring. Prairie Homestead is a great place to enjoy my elder years.

We went to Prairie Homestead. They had individual duplexes. My first impression was it was an older facility, but it was still kept up nice and probably a five-star on everything. We did eat there and that was a five-star. The only exception was the location where it was. We didn't like the neighborhood. The staff was wonderful. She met with us and gave us a tour of the whole facility. She took us to one of the duplexes. She was very informative. There were plenty of amenities, an exercise room, a hair salon, and a library. Because the apartment wasn't located in one building (it was duplexes), we would have to walk over, which was no big deal, but we didn't care for the location too much.

We have chosen Prairie Homestead because it is in the neighborhood where my mother has lived in for over 50 years. Her church is just right down the street, she knows other people that have moved into the community, and it's very close to family and friends. It's a beautiful place. She has been to the pond and seen the fish. She's very excited about being there, and she told me the other day that she feels safe there. I think it's a wonderful place, and I'm very happy that my mother has chosen it. The move-in process has gone very smoothly. I think the personnel are very caring and they have my mother's best interests at heart. She's loving the food. She said she's eating more now than she did living in her own house. The layout is also very good for seniors with walkers or wheelchairs. It's very accessible to the dining room, and it's very clean, very bright, and very open. Her room is very, very nice. They painted it before she got in there, and they're always checking on her. It's just a very nice place.

The rooms at Prairie Homestead were gorgeous and newly remodeled. The apartments we looked at had not been lived in yet. They're very nice and modern with walk-in showers, a bath and a half, and a one-bedroom. It looked out over their garden areas, you can go out there and it has a little pond and was very prettily-landscaped. They told me that if I like to garden I can put a garden in there, so that was very appealing to me. This was probably the place that I like the best. The staff was great, the apartments were gorgeous, and it was all in one story, there's no one above or below us. Another plus is that the rooms came with their own washer and drier.

Prairie Homestead was a very nice campus, and the staff was very good. The twin homes were a good size and had a good layout. They had cabinets and appliances. We did not look at their new apartments. We just looked at the twin homes. I liked that it looked like a neighborhood. They had gardening places, beauty shop, library, fitness center, outings, and transportation. The staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. Their main building where all their activities take place and the dining was nice.

I think Prairie Homestead is absolutely, positively wonderful. I like the committment that the staff has in servicing. I like their kindness and the social worker is absolutely wonderful. They have really good activities and they include a lot of their people in on them.

Prairie Homestead Senior Living is a religious baptist community, but they allow everybody to come in. We were not able to see the apartments because we had to pay the buy-in before we could look at anything, but they've been really nice. Some residents were writing and some were playing cards when we were there. They had a big dining room where they served one meal a day.
