I wish that Home Instead would give me the same people all of the time. Some of them are very good and other ones aren’t as good and my wife doesn’t respond to them. I come home from work and she would still be in bed, doesn’t want to eat, doesn’t want to take her medicine, and doesn’t want to do anything. With the good ones, she’s up and doing her exercises, showered and dressed, and a whole lot else. She gets along a lot better with older caregivers. They mostly just watch her and give her breakfast. They’re supposed to take her blood sugar and get her up, but sometimes they don’t. I’ve had a couple days when their people never showed up, and I didn’t like that. I don’t have to have a contract as long as they get 12 hours a week. I’m usually working 24 hours a wee,k and it’s always on the weekends, so I need to have somebody an hour before and an hour after I work. There are some things that I’m not too happy about, but they've been very nice. I would suggest keeping the same people because she doesn’t have a chance to get used to them or for them to get used to her.

From the first phone call, I was impressed with Home Instead in the Tappahannock, VA region. Jennifer was warm, listened well, and was very responsive. She even stopped by my Mom's home to meet her in person, while we were considering care for my Dad (who was in a rehab center at the time). Home Instead caregivers have provided my Dad 24/7 care for the past month, and are in the process of reducing the hours carefully as he recovers. They have taken him to numerous doctor appointments and other trips as desired - sometimes with little notice as situations necessitated. With Home Instead, I have been able to continue to live and work in Maryland, with the peace of mind that they have us covered when I cannot be there. I can highly recommend the staff in Tappahannock!
