I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law has moved in at Chapman Place. We needed to get him out of the hospital and this is the only facility that could take him in. The appearance of the facility is fine. The staff is friendly and nice. They are very helpful. They call if anything comes up and they do keep us informed. They are doing activities there like bingo, crafts, music playing, and movies. The only thing I would say is the security is a bit overboard. You have to beep to get in which is fine, but you have to also have to beep to get out of the facility and I just don't like that. I think that's too much of a waste of time for somebody who just wants to see their loved ones.

I visited this facility

I went to a place called Chapman House for my mom. I really liked it, but they had apartments that did not have a sink in the bathroom. I thought it was totally ridiculous that you would have to go to the kitchen sink to clean out, wash your hands, clean your underwear, or anything. So that's what I did not like about Chapman house. I did not like that not every apartment has a sink in the bathroom. It was very beautiful, very charming, small, and has a lot of character to the building; it was really homey. It was just a very pleasant place. If they had a sink in every bathroom, I would have gone there. The staff was good and helpful. The setup of the the rooms were very small and the apartments were very awkward. I would say it's not a very well-designed place for senior living. It's just that it had a lot of charm to it, even though the rooms are small, and the apartments were awkward. I say awkward because they didn't have sinks in the bathroom. It was not a typical design. I think the word awkward is a good description. I would say their amenities aren't very good either. They had an exercise room that they didn't even show me. They just showed me the door. I had a feeling it wasn't a very nice exercise room.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband is in Chapman Place. I believe it's a very good place. They take good care of him and they call me if anything happens. It's clean. I haven't eaten their food, but it looks very good and he eats it. He's in memory care, which is part of assisted living, and it's on the third floor. It's absolutely beautiful. Compared to other places, it was the lowest price and I liked it. I liked the location. With Covid, they don't have as much activity as they would like. They have devotions, reading, and games. They make me stay in the room because of Covid. I can't visit out in the halls. It's right across the street from my church, so I could go and see him right before church if I wanted to.

My good friend lives at Chapman Place. She is so happy living there. She has lived there approx 1 year. I've eaten with her a few times and every time the food was been really good. Almost feels like my home cooking. It's so great to see her thriving compared to her living on her own.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father has been here since Oct 2017 and I have seen major changes going on with staff and residents. Positive changes! Care is improving, food is improving, activities are great! My wife and I are so happy to know that the staff really does care about the quality of life and I would recommend Chapman Place to everyone who was looking.

I like that it has the basic nurses on staff, a memory care unit, different steps of memory care that they can take care of, and the secured areas, and they specialize diets. For the residents who can get up and around, they have Happy Hour and cards.

I visited this facility

The rooms are kind of small, and we were looking for a couple. They had a lot of activities. It's more of a high-rise or multi-story facility. The tour was very positive. There wasn't a lot of pressure. The person that took us around really had a lot of ideas and new other resources. She wasn't pressuring me to go there.

My dad is in nice, bright, and cheery room in Assisted Living. It is very homey. They are very nice and very caring. They have happy hours, bingo, puzzle night, movie night, ice cream socials, and pretty birds in the bird cage. I eat there with him, and the food is good.

The staff was helpful, courteous, and very friendly. They showed us around and introduced us to a lot of people. My granddaughter and I went to their open house and people remembered me. When I had to go to the bathroom and my granddaughter was left there eating, one of their employees sat with her and talked with her; my grandaughter had a great time. I think the employee's name was Holly, and she was super. The cleanliness of the place was what stood out the most for me. It also had a homey atmosphere.

It was alright. It was nice. The room was kind of tiny and small, and there could have been better features in the room. It was very clean, and it was a nice place. The staff was very accommodating and answered all my questions.

It sits on a very busy corner with high traffic, and that turned me off. The rooms had a living room, bedroom, and a small dine-at with a microwave and a little refrigerator. They had two meals a day and a bus that would take you to stores and different places if they made arrangements. They had crafts and exercise. The facility seemed very clean.

It is top of the line. It’s just like a big bed and breakfast. Everything is taken care of for my cousin. There is only one floor that’s dedicated to memory care, and their staff is the only group that I have met. I find them to be very caring and concerned, and I think they are doing a good job.

My husband's family were very eager to find the situation for my sister-in-law, and they spent a lot of time with us. The people we talked to seemed happy, and there seemed to be lots of activities. It had a secured top floor, and the rooms were small. The lady was very efficient and capable, and we talked to the manager we talked. What stood out to me were the personable staff, the manager, and the caring people.

I've visited some friends here. The rooms are OK, but I don’t think they are the greatest. I also think they need more knowledgeable staff and people to clean the place.

I visited this facility

It seemed to have too many activities. It was in a big city with a lot of traffic in the area. However, they did have a garden where you could go out and even plant your own seeds if you wanted to. It was just off the main Fort Wayne, and there was a lot of traffic all around. For me, that was the only drawback because I lived in a very quiet neighborhood. I didn't go inside and looked. I just pulled out in the front, walked up to the front area, and talked to a couple of guests who were there. They said they really liked it, and it was a good place. I thought it looked very much like the one in Auburn. There was receptionist there and people were ready to wait on you and take care of you. There was a large dining room down the hall. However, I didn't go in the individual rooms.
