For all that is holy, do not use this place. There's a reason they have open beds and no one else does. It took 13 days for any of us to be able to FaceTime her after her COVID diagnosis. Not for a lack of trying. It just took them that long and that only happened because we threatened to file a complaint. We dropped off and mailed so many things, made sure they were labeled, made sure they were hers. All of them walked off, even before COVID. Every time we showed up, she was wearing things that didn't belong to her. No one would tell us what she needed, despite us asking more than a few times. At one point after the pandemic began, a friend - who is on the COVID wing at Duke Raleigh - called me, as she knew my grandmother was sick with COVID at this facility. She wanted to know what my grandmother looked like, because they had a sick patient from Capital in their emergency room with no identification, no paperwork, just left there and they had been calling Capital for hours with no one answering a single extension. This was the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. Could you imagine if that was your family member? And I'm not even talking about the fact that DHHS reports that they had deaths at their facility due to COVID, but not once did they tell any family member that there had been deaths. We dropped off flowers and gifts for her 90th birthday. We have no idea where those items are. They just disappeared. She had hearing aids that we paid thousands of dollars for that they never used, didn't try to use. Hour after hour of unanswered phone calls to the nurses station. The daily staff seems to be caring and considerate, I'll give them that much. But their administrator is a nightmare. At one point I was in my car in the parking lot and she and the financial director were in the parking lot talking about how difficult our family is. Do you know why I was in the parking lot? Because the administrator, Holly, had told our family that they would be moving 1/3 of the patients to Chapel Hill in two days and my grandmother was possibly one of them, but they would let us know for sure. Except they didn't let us know for sure. No one did. And you read that right - two days notice about moving her to a different county. We've had multiple family members in multiple facilities in three states that we have cared for as a family. There's a way a place that cares for others is supposed to be run. This is certainly not it. Very grateful for the kindness of the facility where my grandmother now resides. They give her hearing aids every day, they're kind and considerate, they even call us back in a timely manner and visits are in a timely manner! It's a totally different planet compared to this place. So please, save yourself a lot of heartache and use a different facility.

Large flying bugs in my room. I couldn't sleep with bugs and an open wound.

My father-in-law was a resident here from January 21, 2017 until his death on March 11, 2017. We were not very happy with the support I received from the office staff. Some of the nursing staff were great while others did not seem as diligent. It was near impossible to receive a callback when I left messages for the staff. We had prescription issues, billing issues and other care issues that continued during his brief stay until his death. I don't understand how this facility received a 5 star rating.

I visit this facility at least once a week. What I really like about this facility is its attention to detail. The staff is always very friendly to visitors, but most importantly, their attention to the residents needs are excellent. My biggest impression that seals the deal for me is how the nursing staff goes out of their way to bright the residents day. I once saw a nurse seeing a resident crying and this nurse went out of her way to make that resident smile by bringing her a flower. A small token, yet this resident was so overjoyed that she had to tell every one about her flower. I really like visiting this facility.
