Caring for me Member since February 08, 2010I am both the patient and the caregiver. I have survived DCIS breast cancer, but also have fibromyalgia which is affecting breathing, high cholesterol despite good diet, spinal injuries with chronic pain, allergies & asthma.
I have to drive myself to the doctor, which is a longterm concern as it is difficult at times. Isolation is my biggest difficulty both functionally and emotionally. Above all, I am tired from driving to so many different doctors. Very tiring. Another challenge is getting my family to include me more in conversations, and for them to get used to taking me out with a wheelchair. Communication & functional living is a challenge when things are not discussed within the family - including the patient! Homelife is rather volatile these days. Meanwhile, my mother is dying long distance from me.
