Member since February 09, 2010I am a full time caregiver for my mother in law. She has been diagnosed with alzheimers and Stage IV lung cancer that has metastasized to the bone and soft tissue. There are 2 other children besides my husband and I receive very little help from them. They only see the problems from the cancer and choose not to see the daily problems that the dementia causes that make it necessary for her to need someone with her 24/7. I feel alone in this a lot of the time and don't feel like I have someone to turn to with all the problems that come up daily from both of these diseases. It is a struggle to try and determine which problem is from the dementia and which one is from the cancer. I quit trying and have decided to just care for her day to day the best I know how to.
