Karen H. Weber, J.D., guest contributor to Caring.com


Karen Weber is an Elder Law and Special Needs Law attorney helping families in both Kansas and Missouri. The major emphasis of Ms. Weber's law practice is in the areas of estate planning, including Medicaid benefits for long-term care, guardianship and conservatorship administration, and drafting special needs trusts for persons with developmental and other disabilities.

In 1999, Ms. Weber co-founded the Kansas Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). In 2001, the Weber Law Firm was honored as the "Woman-Owned Business of the Year" through the Kansas Department of Commerce. In 2002, Ms. Weber was selected as a finalist for the "Kansas City Business Ethics Award" by the Society of Financial Service Professionals. She is the co-author of The Alzheimer's Legal Survival Guide, a book available by contacting her office.

In 2008, Ms. Weber was selected by her peers to the Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers Rising Stars. Ms. Weber received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with honors, and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
