Coffeehouse
Caring for my mom Member since March 28, 2011Hello. I'm Coffeehouse and live in western Pennsylvania. My mother lived with my husband and I for two years before we had to place her in a nursing home last June. She is 78 years old and in Mid Stage Alzheimer's. I am 51 years old and a massage therapist with an office in my home and I also work at a Day Spa. My husband of 32 years had a seizure and passed away suddenly in Oct 2012. We had only a few months alone again before his seizure. I miss him so much. My mother is becoming more and more agitated and cannot see that she needs care. She still believes that she is capable of and has actually been performing daily, routine tasks such as bathing, cooking, cleaning, phoning friends, etc. She can do none of these things without assistance. Although she is not violent, each day is a challenge because she wants to go home. I find it so difficult to be with my mother. She can barely remember anything but for some reason, she can remember my husband dying and we go over and over that endlessly.
