This is higher than the state average of $3,713, according to Genworth’s 2020 Cost of Care Survey. DeSoto County also has higher assisted living prices than the national median, which comes to $4,300 per month.
Assisted living prices in the state of Mississippi vary, and northern DeSoto County has some of the highest costs. In the center of the state, capital city Jackson is slightly more affordable, at $4,348 per month. Further south, Hattiesburg has the highest assisted living prices in the state. With a cost of $4,500, it is $109 per month more expensive than assisted living in DeSoto County. On the coast, Gulfport has the state’s lowest prices, at $3,738. Even lower prices can be found in neighboring Louisiana, where Hammond averages $2,900. At $4,163 per month, New Orleans also has more affordable assisted living prices than DeSoto County. Lake Charles, however, has higher costs, at an average of $4,725.
