Is my mother-in-law developing Alzheimer's?

How can I tell if my mother-in-law is developing signs/symptoms of Alzheimer's? Her mother died two years ago with Alzheimer's and my mother-in-law now seems to exhibit some of the same signs her mother did before passing.
