Tifton, Ga., "The Friendly City," situated in southern Georgia has twice been in the list for one of “The 100 Best Small Towns in America,” most recently in 2001. Seniors, age 55 and older, have much to do at the Leroy Rodgers Senior Citizens Center from exercise classes to day trips.
Seniors also have a choice of five assisted living facilities in Tifton with another three in the surrounding communities. The Georgia Department of Community Health oversees assisted living facilities in the Tifton, Georgia, area. According to their guidelines, for a community to be properly licensed it must meet the following specifications. It must care for 25 or more patients, have a certified medication aide on staff to oversee the dispensing of medicines and provide assistance with or provisions for eating, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
