My dad is going to Laurel Cove Community for respite care. It seems like a very caring community. The staff that we worked with for the placement bent over backward to understand our needs and get to know my dad who is going there. They were just very easy to work with, and we felt like they would provide a caring place for him to go. The facility seemed clean and organized. They had availability, too. The person who took us on a tour was very caring, knowledgeable, and interested in our needs. He worked hard to try to understand what we needed and tried to reassure us.

We toured Laurel Cove Community. The one-bedroom suites are huge and clean. They have air conditioning. The staff who gave the tour was great. They offered the same amenities like housekeeping, activities, and meals. The dining area was nice and pleasant. They also have a beauty salon, and it's reasonably priced as well.

I had an in-person tour of Laurel Cove Community. It was really, really friendly. Everybody seemed to know people's names, and they chatted with each other. I liked how in the memory care, the doors open out into a hallway, and that you can't get lost getting to the activities room and eating area. I saw their activities calendar, and I actually saw one of the activities. The people were sitting around and laughing. The woman doing the tour asked them what they were doing, and they said they were talking about their childhood. Everybody was so engaged. I liked the courtyard. The rooms are big. The staff was friendly and nice. They knew the people who lived there. It was a homier feeling. The facility wasn't quite as fancy, but it's very clean and updated.

I've been to Laurel Cove Community in Shoreline. I only went into their nice big lobby or living room. I didn't go into anybody's room or the eating space. I was only there for a birthday party. My friend was very wobbly and his wife was in the memory unit but I never saw that. He stayed in assisted living. I think they did an excellent job with them. During my visit, I didn't go into my friend's room because the pandemic was on. We couldn't go in after we went to that birthday party, everything was shut down. I never got to see his room but the big living room was very clean and very nice. I only met one staff member and the person was very nice. The person that I knew there was also not capable of participating in any excursions or anything like that so I have no idea what they offer.

My wife and I have lived here since Dec 2021. She has Alzheimers and Type 1 diabetes. We moved her because we need 3 meals per day and medicine management. I have long term care. We are still doing our own cooking and medicine (including insulin injections). We keep getting told that "We are getting it set up." We though that we could get a 30 gram diabetic diet (one bread, one bowl of fruit, and whatever else they offered that didn't have significant carbs in it. We had some meetings only to find that that the chef wouldn't do that, so we mix some food from the kitchen with carbs we prepare. We are still waiting them taking over the insulin injections (sliding scale) and meds. They got a new nurse April 20th (or there abouts) but she is still working on that. The stress has my wife rejecting more and more of the food that was being cooked, because of the resentment. I am at wits end. No other care facilities do slinging scale injections (that I and my relatives have found). My wife is demanding that we eat out all the time (which is not good for her), and I feel like I should be do more to get the services I need.
