I visited this facility

I contacted Edenbrook looking for somewhere for my wife. I spoke to a Melanie first who was very kind and talked to me. She told me about the place and explained that my wife may need more care than they can give. Melanie had an Amber call me from her establishment. Amber came right to the hospital to see my wife and I. Amber spent two hours with my wife and I talking about my wife's wishes. She gave us ample information and we felt more confident in our decision to keep her home with some extra help. Amber helped coordinate hospice for my wife. Amber recognized my wife was failing and recommended hospice. I am happy I called Melanie and Amber. I would highly recommend anyone call this place when you need help. They sure know what they are talking about. Dale

I am/was a resident of this facility

Friendly, hardworking staff EARNED my respect. I arrived by ambulance, unable to even stand. The day I left, I got out of bed, dressed myself and walked, with a walker, out to my ride. As I re learned to walk, staff cheered me on in the hallway. The rooms were constantly cleaned. Probably could eat off the floor. The rooms were spacious and set up nice. They arranged transportation for my numerous DR appointments. I

My mother is in Edenbrook of Edina. We don't care for the place too much. Probably the same problem with most places nowadays, they're very short-staffed. When I did go there for family visits, they seemed accommodating and nice, but when I'm not there, they just pretty much leave her in the room and they're not that accommodating. It was nice, clean, and well organized and that part was good. My sister has been participating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If she wasn't participating, they pretty much would just let mom sit in the bed and do nothing, but my sister has been getting them to engage in physical therapy, which is good. If we weren't visiting and we weren't engaging, nothing would happen. The food is not very good at all.

The building is very old and not well kept. Mom mom was receiving from hip surgery and used a wheelchair to get from the bed to the bathroom. The bathroom was so small the wheelchair barley made it through the bathroom door let alone a aid to help with the transport. It took about 30-40 minuets for someone to come help my mom to the bathroom. Most of the staff was pleasant. One night person had a bad attitude and advised my mom to put a diaper on and just "pee in the diaper" versus using the bathroom. She stated several people do this. I was mortified at her comment. Mom mom did not get her blood pressure medication one morning they "ran out". The next day I asked about it and it still was not there. Eventually after I persuade the issue the nurse found it in the bottom of her medication cart. House keeping cleaned the room 1 time in 10 days. I know this because I slayed with her 23/7. My mom has dementia and needed my help. After 10 days we started to look at another rehab. Fortunalty her memory care facility said they would be able to accommodate her so we brought her there. Another thing that was odd was only one elevator was working. The other elevator was out of order. In the 10 days of being there I never say anyone trying to fix it. Seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Over all it was a very troubling experience. Go visit. Check out every floor. Walk the hallways.

Absolutely terrible service. The staff was so dismissive and rude. The food was cold and had the most awe full presentation. This is no place to put your loved one.

This was the worst experience ever! They left my elderly mother unattended without access to a walker, phone or call button for hours. They did not clean her room for 5 days. The food was inedible. Do NOT let anyone you care about go here! It was so bad that I filed a report with the state department.

The place does not smell like urine and the staff people I could find (which were few and far between) were polite and nice. However, my mom is in this place right now and they have already "lost" the brand new $50 heating pads I bought her 2 days ago. I tried to make a complaint to someone but nobody was around. My mom says the food is the worst she has ever had -- her dinner was a plate of sliced onions and tomatoes. The first room she was in was barren - not even a chair for someone to sit in when visiting - and all but one outlet was broken so they had a long orange extension cord strung up across the room to plug the tv in. It was a total hazard! It was about 85 degrees in the room (there are only portable AC units in the hallways - nothing in the rooms) so I had to bring her a fan. I will be surprised if this doesn't get lost or stolen before she leaves. My mom also has a sore on her head and they will not give her any antibacterial ointment - I had to bring her some of that, too. While looking for someone to complain to tonight I found a brand new nurse and she said she didn't know what to do because the person training her just disappeared. Only once when I have visited has there been anyone at the front reception desk. When I tried to call the facility during the day yesterday nobody answered. If your loved one needs any special attention, do NOT send them to this place -- there isn't enough staff.

My wife lived at Edenbrook for approximately 5 years. In her 5 years here the nurses have been great. The nursing assistants have been very nice and friendly and in general the facility employees have been very considerate. As in any setting there have been issues, but through common sense it has been resolved. In general it has been a good experience for our family.

WARNING! THIS FACILITY IS NOW CALLED EDEN BROOK OF EDINA (Under New Management) My review relates to that facility. STAY AWAY! This place is the worst "Care and Rehab" facility I've ever experienced, and I've had personal experience with 6 different facilities for various blood relativeI had POA (Power of Attorney) for an elderly gentleman, who was placed here for Rehab after a fall. The daytime staff was ok, but the evening staff was horrible, the food atrocious, the care level mediocre, and the attitude of the staff Toxic. The worst episode I experienced was when I visited my friend and found him lying in bed, yelling for help, wearing only a soiled adult diaper and a dirty short sleeved shirt., half unbuttoned. His bedding was on the floor, and he'd been buzzing for 30 minutes. His complaint was that he was cold and hungry, but they left his food on the table by the television, a half hour before. As a test, I left his help light on, closed the door, made his bed, fed him(after walking his food down to the kitchen and having it reheated), changed him and took him to the restroom, and visited for another hour and fifteen minutes...No one came in for a wellness check during that time. I had to leave, but returned the next day and asked him when the checked on him. It was another 25 minutes after I left, so almost 2 1/4 hours after he first rang for help. I asked the staff why this happened, and they shrugged. He fell out of his bed twice, and no explanation was given. This was not uncommon in this facility. And he was being charged $350.00+ a day for this level of care. Ultimately, this gentleman died while staying at this facility. I was notified of his deteriorating condition 30 minutes before they sent him to the hospital, after not being notified for 4 days that his condition was deteriorating (I was out of town at a family reunion...but near enough to return to see him) The attendant who contacted me at 1:00 am asked if I had been contacted, and was shocked when I said no. She said he'd been in dire condition for at least 5 hours, and that I should of been called by 8:00 pm. Instead of being there for his last moments, he died alone in a hospital room. Ultimately, I found that my charge had been deteriorating for 4 days and no one bothered to call let me know. The kicker is that I went to the facility the morning after my friend died, to pick up his things and ask what my next steps were. The receptionist looked at me and said, "what do you want me to do?", and, "just go home." No compassion, no interest, no help...just interested in playing on her cell phone. I was stunned, I've never seen such coldness and indifference in a nursing home.

Good first impression???? As as pastoral minister from a local faith community attempting to visit a sick resident in this facility, this was my experience: Staff: Rude, extremely unhelpful, inattentive Receptionist- Searched hallways for 20 minutes trying to find someone to assist me to find patient's room. When I finally found a staff person, (the administrator) she rudely informed me that she would have to contact the patient's lawyer before she would let me visit. I was not on "the list". Having visited this facility many times in the past with no problem, I commented that this was a rather draconian policy if it prevented residents from receiving spiritual care. She did not explain this new policy any further. During my wait for her to check into my criminal background, I witnessed a distressed and hungry resident searching the hallways for help. He wanted his lunch and was tired of waiting (It was after 1PM). He was told by a nurses aide to go get it himself. The resident replied, "Isn't that your job?" He walked back to his room, angry and complaining about the terrible management. A receptionist finally showed up in the lobby mumbling and complaining loudly about a problem she was having. I finally left the facility, offended, angry, and frustrated. The sign out front said it was under new management.

Horrible, Horrible place.... Dirty, dark, dull. My mom was there for 2 short days before having to return to the hospital. She was told by a couple staff in the night to "chill out" for asking for another pillow, she needs for her care were not met. when she went to the hospital we placed her bed on hold as we didn't know if she would return. After touring other places and hearing other complaints, we decided she would be in better care anywhere else so we went back to clean out her room. Upon arriving, we checked the bathroom to find that after 2 days her urine that had blood in it, was still on the floor in an open container. Disgusting!!!! I will be reporting this to the department of health as well. I would never wish this place on anyone, so please do your family members a favor and find a different place.

My father was placed here for rehabilitation after a hospital stay. He was released early for "not being motivated enough". He was left in bed, his bag was never unpacked and when I picked him up to take him home he was not even wearing his own clothes! I would never recommend this facility to someone else.
