At EPOCH of Chestnut Hill we strive to provide our residents with the highest quality of care and beautiful, gracious surroundings. Here you will find beautiful courtyards, gracious accommodations, beautifully decorated common areas, a beauty salon and many more amenities to keep our residents in an active and dignified lifestyle. With a comprehensive team of nurses, rehabilitation therapists and support staff, we offer a wide range of services and are able to meet the needs of even the most complex medical patient. We also have an on-site assisted living campus, Boylston Place at Chestnut Hill.
A professional staff of licensed nurses and certified assistants, presided over by a Medical Director, provide 24-hour care to residents. In addition, dining and recreational, as well as complex medical services, pharmacy and a full array of restorative therapies are available to residents. On most of our campuses, nearby assisted living communities are available to residents who no longer require 24-hour care and are able to live more independently.
A complete range of ancillary services including physical, occupational, respiratory, and speech therapies, as well as many routine medical services are available at all communities. These services are designed to transition residents from post acute care to home while maximizing quality of life.

Epoch is a skilled nursing facility that shares a number of amenities, including a courtyard, with Boylston Place, an independent living and assisted living facility that’s adjacent to it. One floor of Epoch is dedicated to dementia care; another is used primarily for rehab.
It’s located in Chestnut Hill, MA, which is located in both Newton and Brookline, MA. Parking can be difficult, and it’s a little distance from public transportation, but they do offer valet parking.
The rooms are average in size and set up like a typical hospital room–-though with nicer colors, furniture, and wall coverings. They’re mostly semi-private and all have a private bathroom.
One of the nice things about having Boylston Place adjacent to it is that the rehab. Staff can follow patients back to assisted living for outpatient or follow-up care. They also have programs for dementia patients off the nursing floor. Another program offered is near the nursing floor and is a comforting setting for end-stage dementia patients. It’s a quiet space that’s quite peaceful, with lowered lights. They play soft music, and make sure patients are hydrated and comfortable. There’s a good ratio of caregivers to patients.
The food is basic and rather institutional. The activities are geared to function level, with separate activities for separate groups, including bingo, films, chair exercise, flower arranging, and beading.
Best Facility for Rehab and Dementia Care
The Epoch Senior Health Care Center is a wonderful place because it is staffed with caring professionals who are always concerned about the safety and comfort of its residents. The nurses, care takers and service staff understand that every resident is someone's family member and loved one, and treat every resident with great respect and dignity. The facility is wonderfully designed to have everything a resident could want, including a mini-cinema that plays daily movies, and hosts bingo games. There is also a lovely gift shop and even a beauty salon. One of the great things about EPOCH is that there are no specific visiting hours. There is a receptionist until 7:30 pm (weekdays) but visitors are welcome any time, as residents are meant to feel at home rather than as guests. Dining rooms are available for families to rent for larger gatherings. These are just some of the many features this facility has to offer. Wonderful physical therapy programs for the residents, special unit for individuals with dementia, and great administrative assistance to answer all your questions. I highly recommend the Epoch Senior Healthcare if you're researching for a fitting facility with a difficult decision at hand.
