I visited this facility

I like The Etta at Shavano Park. The lady walked me around and showed me many of the rooms. They had a studio, a studio deluxe, and an alcove. The studio deluxe and the alcove were the same price. The studio itself, the smaller version, was a little bit less expensive, which is what I'm looking for in my father. They have wonderful layouts. I love them. It's amazing what they can do with the place.

I visited this facility

We are choosing The Etta at Shavano Park for my mom. The grounds were very well kept and very shady. There were benches outside and some residents were sitting outside greeting us when we arrived. When you walk into the lobby, there's a fireplace. There were residents sitting in front of that and they were all very friendly. The staff was super friendly, too. They were making some repairs and upkeep in the facility. The particular room that my mom will move into, there was a resident that moved out, so they were replacing the carpet and putting in new laminate flooring, repainting the walls, and repatching everything. They've been keeping it updated as the residents move out. The staff who gave me the tour was fabulous, very knowledgeable, and super friendly. She was able to relate as to how hard it is to put your parents in a facility. The dining area was clean and the food smelled great. It was restaurant style, they served them at their tables. Everytime I'm there, people are lining up waiting for the cafeteria or the restaurant to open. They were decorating Halloween cookies at one of the times that we were there. Another time, they were making tie-dye t-shirts. They were having a fall festival where they brought in a band and they were going to be outside in the evening, grilling for the residents. They have shopping days, card games, and book reading.

The Etta at Shavano Park is located close to where my mom was already living, so we chose that location for her so that it doesn't put her in a different section of San Antonio. The layout is very simple. You have one main entrance and then you have an elevator that takes you to the upper floor. You have two halls, one to the right and one to the left, so it is three stories, but it's not confusing. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. We're happy having my mom there.

My sister moved into The Etta at Shavano Park, which was wonderful. The staff members are great and so accommodating. Every little thing seems taken care of, and it is just amazing. The place is exceptionally clean and nice. My sister's room is beautiful. It is a nice size and larger than the one we looked at. It was less money and just better. It's like going to a high-class restaurant. My sister was raving about her breakfast and how good it was. They have bingo, crafts, spiritual time, medication, and exercise. They have a lot of activities.

The tour I had at The Etta at Shavano Park was excellent. It's a very nice assisted living place, nice staff, and I can't say highly enough about it. It feels homey and the staff was excellent, they were great. We checked the menu and the food looked very delicious. There were some people playing games during our visit.

The Etta at Shavano Park is safe, clean, and the folks are very attentive to my aunt's needs. They make sure that they're meeting her needs as far as eating, mobilization, and things like that. The assisted living accommodation is beautiful. It's really, really nice. She has a nice large studio apartment, and everything is very well equipped. She's got to keep her own furniture in there; that's very comforting for her. It's really nice and very spacious. The staff is very appropriate and very good. They are very aware of her physical needs. She was having trouble keeping up with her meds, and they've been able to get her back to her meds. They're also giving her some exercise, which she has not had before. They have a nice place to get her hair fixed, which is something very nice that she likes. They've got a lot of activities, which she really enjoys doing. Staff-wise, they're really great. They're very well-rounded both on the clinical side and social side. She also says the food is good, and she's quite a judge with food. I think it's great. She's got what she needs, and it's very affordable for her.

I went to The Etta at Shavano Park. The rooms are nice. Aesthetically, my mom wouldn't want to be there. It smelled like cleaning supplies, so someone was cleaning, and I like the security of it. You were not able to go in unless somebody buzzed you in. The guests were in different areas of the property that I went to. It's a smaller property. So they were probably in the common area, but it was a little bit too small like the common area was too small for me. It's like a multipurpose room to some degree, and they did have two. The ground was nice. The staff that I interacted with was pretty nice. It was clean, but it was just a little dated.

I visited this facility

I just visited The Etta at Shavano Park in San Antonio last week. It's a nice assisted living and has a homey feeling. It's a big facility but it doesn't feel like it, it feels nice. The apartments and the bathrooms are nice. Overall, I think it's so nice and very clean. The whole property is kept well. They said they're going to remodel it but I didn't see anything wrong with it. The staff was very friendly. Their physical therapists are nice and very willing to help. I think they're very accommodating. They had a movie room and a dining room that were very nice. The staff told me they have a hair salon. The assisted living part is going to help with the medications and things like that. I think the care is professional and they try to keep the residents occupied and have things to do.

I was pretty impressed with The Etta at Shavano Park. When I got to the building, they actually had a little sign with my name on it welcoming me in. Once I entered, it just seemed really spacious. The room where we talked was a similar room to where my mother would be living. I just like the setup of it, and the environment as a whole is peaceful. I think my mother would do well there. The staff who gave the tour was a really nice person who made sure all my questions were answered and did a good job. Everybody was very prompt, and I just felt very comfortable with the whole visit. The room was based on the information that I had given them. The way it's set up was really nice, with a refrigerator and that type of stuff. She'd be really comfortable in that type of setting. They told me that they do exercises and group-type games.

DO NOT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE OR ANY OTHER AVENTINE PROPERTY! This was the absolute WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. AVENTINE took complete advantage of our family during their time of need in the midst of the pandemic. After WALKING HER DOG DURING QUARANTINE, they moved her to memory care, and while we understood their initial concerns, we had agreed a reassessment would take place. Once we were finally able to visit, we found the memory care building to be a completely different environment from AL; dirty carpeting, roaches, old furniture in common areas and the kitchen in disrepair. From Aug '20- Jan '21 she was literally in her bed 98% of the time; no activities worth mentioning unless you are a child, no stimulation, or interaction. They are completely understaffed, having individuals do multiple jobs leaving no time to interact with residents in a meaningful way. After repeated requests for a reassessment that went unanswered since the initial move to memory care and having to prepare my mom lunch and dinner EVERYDAY because the food is inedible which they themselves staff and leadership agreed was horrible, we moved her. I tried reaching out to corporate to literally no avail. My mother is now in AL with Level one care and thriving. PROOF that this company takes advantage of families and their residents. This organization is unprofessional from the top to the bottom.

The Etta has had some transitional issues but the new Executive Director and management have certainly my turned things around. This is a great facility with beautiful grounds. The new staff along with some older favorite staff are doing a great job of caring for my aunt.

My friend's husband has moved into The Etta at Shavano Park. We like the way things are set up there. My friend feels like it's a good fit for her husband. They're very friendly over there, and they explained everything to you in detail. They have special things for dementia patients. We really enjoyed it. She said everything is great. She is able to go and visit and see her husband there. She is OK with the staff. They do an excellent job. Everything was good. They have a small walking area, they have a big area, there's a small backyard area that they can go and walk to, and they can have coffee outside on the patio.

We took a tour of The Etta at Shavano Park. It's really good, and they're really attentive. They went above and beyond for us. They do assisted living, Alzheimer's, and they take care of your pills if you need it. The room size is good enough. It has its own little bed area and a small kitchen. It's like a suite in a hotel. The facilities are good. I was just expecting more outdoor space, but overall it's enough. I would prefer a little more space for them to walk around outside. COVID was already hitting when I took the tour, so they couldn't allow me inside the space. I was able to look at a specific room from the outside, but not come in or see the community in action. They opened the door and let me look inside the dining area, but not walk into it. It looked like a little restaurant; it had its own area where they serve the food, and it was nice. I looked at two or three places, but they were definitely the most attentive. I enjoyed the tour. I felt comfortable leaving my mother there. The staff member during the tour went above and beyond. We're from Puerto Rico, and she found typical Puerto Rican food and gave my mother a gift. She was really good.

My mom has been a resident at The Etta at Shavano Park for three years. My sister or I visit her every day and find the care to be excellent. The staff really enjoys caring for older people which means so much to my family. My mom attends exercise classes daily and the Bible studies that are offered weekly.

I thought that it was a really good place. It was very clean and the people were very friendly and they really tried to help. The dining room was pretty good and the people there seemed to like it. They have a library and an area for different things, there were also cozy-looking areas with couches where people can sit.

My mother is a resident of the Dementia/Alzheimer's care facility at this location. The facilities are nice and kept clean. The personnel are more important (in the case of Dementia care) than the facilities and the people I have dealt with here are caring, responsive, and I feel genuinely have my Mother's well being as a top priority. The food and activities are very good. My Mother feels quite at home here.

I saw the rooms at Brookdale Shavano Park were spacious and nice. The downside was that their refrigerators were not full; they were a smaller version. The staff was very friendly, and the residents seem to be happy.

It seemed clean and really nice. I liked the layout for memory care and all of the activities going on, like art. I liked the small kitchen setting where they allowed them to help with either baking or cooking and doing everyday things. They also had a very nice courtyard area where the residents can be outside and dig in the dirt. I liked the way that complex was laid out also because they had the ability to transfer from assisted to memory care within the same facility.

I went for my mother. It was very nice and looked like a new facility. There were a few staff members there who were very friendly and very nice. The atmosphere felt very relaxed. A lot of people there said it felt like they’re at home. It really looked comfortable. I saw two rooms, one empty and another one with somebody living there, that were well kept, clean, and didn’t have any strange odors. At that time, some of the seniors were working with puzzles.

They have been wonderful. I know they have bingo because my mother likes to participate in it. She has been there for a month now. It is neat, clean, and pretty. They have a workout facility.

They are wonderful. They have been doing a very good job, and they are very patient. It is a very clean facility. My mother does not care for the food, but it seems fine. They have bingo, jewelry making, and cooking activities. They also have a happy hour every Friday afternoons. She has a one-bedroom apartment with a refrigerator and a microwave. It has a nice sized bathroom. I think the room is quite large. She has a queen sized bed, a recliner, a night stand, a chest, and a sofa.

My mother lived in this community for over 3 years in both the Assisted Living and Memory care buildings. There was never a time that I was worried or concerned about her safety and well being. The staff were always supportive, caring and loving in their approach with her as well as with our family. I found that there were plenty of activities going on, though she often times was not interested in doing them. The facility was clean, smelled good and the staff were always friendly. It felt good to walk into the place and be greeted with smiling faces from the staff and other residents.
