I am/was a resident of this facility

i am a current resident. and for the most part this is a very nice place. but there are a lot of people who should be in nursing homes and making it hard for the ones who can care for themselves. the food is fairly decent. but my one complaint is that how no matter what your medical problems are, you have to have a roommate if you only get ssi. and to me that is not right. there are lots of reasons why i should NOT have a roommate and i have to move out to be able to get my own room whether i need their help or not. they also have a couple of guys who run around here in their briefs with no pants on. and a lot of wonderers. a lot of those people should be in a nursing home where they can get more help cuz they are limited with staff and always running out of supplies. a lot of these men are just crazy weird and make people feel uncomfortable. altho if it wasnt for those few complaints i have this place would be great.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is a resident of Emerald Gardens Pensacola. They're doing fine, and it's a good place for her. It's a small place, everybody knows everybody, and they have taken good care of her. The staff has all been excellent with me. She has a single room with a bath, but they have a variety. They do separate things for them like different holidays, and they enjoy it. They have a courtyard and a place where they can watch TV, but she has a TV in her room, and they have an activity room.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was a resident at this facility she had dementia and early Alzheimer's the staff took care of her as though she was part of their family the food was excellent every time we visited we could tell she was well cared for . If I or my husband ever need assisted living this is where we want to be.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother in law has been in this facility twice. The first stay was a rescue from the nursing home she was in Georgia. She came to Emerald Gardens in very poor health. Within months she was healed and returned to her home in GA. Then as time progressed she became unable to meet her daily needs with health care, hygiene and meals. She made it very clear to us, her family, that she would go nowhere BUT Emerald Gardens! She has now been a happy resident for two years, and counting. She will tell you first hand that she is delighted with her staff. Yes, that's what she calls them, her staff! :) She will tell you they make her feel loved, and cared for. I can tell you I rest comfortably knowing she is so happy and content in her home, which is how she refers to Emerald Gardens. My thanks to all the dedicated staff and caring Administration, they have truly made a difference in Mother's life, and I am grateful!

I visited this facility

We visited Emerald Gardens recently and were treated to a delicious lunch without having made an appt. to do so. While having lunch we spoke with residents about their "home", each spoke highly of the staff and the family that owns and runs the place. We were pleasantly surprised by the lack of "smell" that seems to be in group homes and while talking to one of the residents learned about the new town car transportation. We ended up spending most of the afternoon there and got to watch the "Dancing Grannies". After visiting a few other places we placed our mother on the waiting list.

A fair and honest review: This place is better than others we have seen, and better than those who will take Medicaid. However there are issues. Their transportation is iffy and doctors appointments need to be made only specific days. Most of the time their bus is broken down. They will tell you they have WiFi but it is only operational in part of the facility. Those not getting it on their wing are out of luck, with promises made and no results. If you need to go to the emergency room there is no transportation provided for your return. The place flooded horribly during the flooding we had here, and families were to come pick up their family member. There are roaches. There shouldn't be roaches! The staff is kind and helpful. The food is good for now but they keep changing cooks. The place is clean, comfortable, and nicely kept, but don't be caught unaware of these unresolved issues.

I visited this facility

After having my own parents in this place for almost two years, I would never recommend it to anyone. While the quarters are nice, the staff leaves much to be desired. The owner thinks he/she is an attorney, and was constantly interfering with the personal lives of my parents, including hindering the work of one of my parents' companion as well as the legal guardian. Food is nice, but that does not a good facility make. This is a terrible environment for residents with mental health issues, such as personality disorders and dementias.

I visited this facility

her room was always clean, she was always in good spirits and the staff was nice...I distinctly remember a few of the residents had ankle monitors on because there was a history of them escaping out the doors...there was usually a alarm being sounded during on visit or another from someone slipping out a door....the was always un settling but beside that they had a nice day room and the dining area was very nice as well as the outside grounds.

I visited this facility

While in the area, we happened upon Emerald Gardens Assisted Living facility while searching for a place for my friend's mother to live in the region. The grounds outside were nicely tended. The interior design seemed easy to navigate and each room had views, with plenty of light and fresh air. From sight seeing to nature walks and cultural events, Florida has it all. The staff takes residents on many outings into Florida's vibrant communities to enjoy all that it has to offer such as fine dining, art, culture, music and theater. The residents are offered yoga and aerobics classes, sometimes held outdoors. They are encouraged to enjoy physical activity as much as possible. Private rooms featured nicely decorated surroundings, all with nice air, light and views. The menus included food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, and whenever requested. The dining areas offered great food that looked and smelled delicious. The staff appeared to accommodate all levels of ambulation. All of the seniors looked very well cared for and seemed quite content living within this environment designed for seniors.
