Emeritus at Las Vegas

I just did a tour with the Executive Director over the last weekend. I am just so impressed. Inviting, clean, and staff who had smiles on their faces. A clean environment, with open areas, coffee and a beautiful middle outside courtyard. Julie seems to be a terrific Executive Director and I was surprised that a Manager would take the time to see me. I really hope my mom will be able to move in.

Emeritus Spring Valley was just so interesting and inviting. They also had big courtyard area that everyone could walk. I liked that there were no locked doors. But there wasn't anybody walking around with a set of keys like a matron in a jail. The main door was locked but everything else is inside. People could come in and out if they want it. The residents never thought they were in jail, so I was very impressed. My mother is still very high-functioning. And I like this one, because it was big enough and there were different levels of care.

I called a couple of places and Emeritus was the one who gave me the quickest response. They were willing to do whatever it took including sending people out to the house to evaluate my mom to find out what treatment level she would be. They gave me a tour of the facility and showed me their whole program and layout and everything. I was impressed because they were very very nice. They handled some patients when I was there and they all seemed to have this happy atmosphere. I felt that it was such a comfortable place because for one thing the staff members are all very friendly and helpful and willing to go the extra mile whenever you need them to. My mom has a roommate and their room was spacious enough for both of them. It's a very large room. It has window view and has air conditioning unit in the room. They have service buttons in the bathroom and also have them around their neck so they can call their staff attendant whenever they have a problem.

The staff treated us nicely and we were warmly welcomed there. They offered us drinks and showed us around. They provided us with all the information that we needed. I like the way the staff there entertained us.

The private room that we looked at was spacious. My husband would have wanted a private room for my mother in law but when they quoted us the price of it, it was something she cannot afford. It was a bit way out of the budget.

I like the dining room there. It's big and they have a selection of food and a chef. I would want them to improve though on their cleaning. Well it wasn't as clean as we expected or would want it to be. During our visit we noticed the place was a bit smelly. I don't know what it was or where it came from. I also hope they also renovate the facility because the building looked a bit old. The furniture were also quite aging but we were informed that they are having new furniture placed there. The place also looked lonely and depressing.
