I visited this facility

I toured Cadence Lakewood. It's very nice. We saw the rooms and the meeting rooms inside. We didn't have a meal, but we liked what we saw. The layout of the place stood out for me. We saw a studio and a one-bedroom, and they were nice. The staff who assisted me was very good and professional.

I visited this facility

My father-in-law is going to move into Cadence Lakewood. My husband and I live in the mountains, and when we visited Denver on that day, it was 101 degrees, so you can imagine that that temperature was ridiculously hot. We toured two facilities that day, and this facility had it cool in there. It was a good temperature. So, that was one of the reasons. It was beautiful, clean, and updated. The paint wasn't chipped on the corners and the baseboards weren't dirty. The grounds were beautiful. They had tons of activities for the seniors. They had all kinds of things, whether it was trips or onsite activities as well as events and parties and that sort of thing. They had really good move-in options, too. The studio is the one we looked at. It was a good size. It had good wall space and a beautiful window. I say wall space because, for my father-in-law, that's very important because he had a ginormous TV that he loves. Then there was a mini fridge and a microwave. The bathroom was spacious. He's not in a wheelchair at this point, but it would accommodate that. It was a walk-in shower, which was very nice. The carpet looked like it was new. Everything was nice. We spoke to the staff when we first arrived, and they were very professional, courteous, and nice.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

When I first went to Cadence Lakewood, I fell in love with it, because of all of the trees and that it's tucked away. They have wild turkeys coming over from the open space, which was perfect for my husband. That makes him happy. He is in the memory care and he likes it there. He's happy and eating (which he did not do at the other place). He's involved now (whereas he was just hiding in his room at the other place) and coming out. He likes being with the other residents. The staff is outgoing and very caring. They didn't just want to take care of my husband, but they were trying to make sure that I was also OK. They're also very well-trained. They understand the memory care residents. They know how to handle them and take care of them. They're amazing and there's lots of staff. There is at least 1 person for every 4 residents. If someone needs help, they're there. It's very, very nice. The facility is beautiful. They have lots of things going on. They have a barbecue out in the garden area (they were there, but they will let people cook if they want to). My husband has always been a big outdoor cook and he loves that. Every night, they set up a movie in the common room. So, anyone who wants to stay out instead of going to bed right after they eat dinner, they have a nice movie and they'll get popcorn and all sorts of stuff. They try to get everyone involved in things, so it's nice that way. Even if someone doesn't want to do the actual activity they're doing, people just hang out and watch. They have a person whom I called a Songbird. She is one of the staff and she sings songs after dinner. So, they try to do all sorts of things with individuals. They involved with them and try to make them happy. They're always checking in with them and trying to give them something to do while they wander around. They're very, very good about that.

The facility is lovely with fairly well-maintained grounds and walking paths. There are lots of activities available if your loved one can be convinced to participate. The staff are caring, and the food is okay. The problem is the lack of administrative oversight of the Health Care and Medication Administration. The facility was without nursing oversight for over 6 weeks, and my loved one was caught in a medication mess. The administrator was alerted, but literally ignored all of my attempts to get help. If you are considering this facility, I strongly suggest that you inquire about the state requirement for on-sight nursing and find out if this is still an issue. And stay on top of it...

I visited this facility

I went to Cadence Lakewood. They're very helpful and very clean. There are lots of activities. It's a gated community, which is nice and safe. The apartment has an open floor plan. The one we saw was basic, kind of a studio layout. It has a walk-in shower. Everything is handicap accessible if you ever need that. They have crafts and movie nights. What I like about Cadence is it sounds like they create the activities according to who is there or according to the demand. I really liked it. The staff was very good.

I do not recommend this facility my mother was there for many years and the care she was given declined every year. They are extremely short staffed especially on the weekends and if your loved one needs extra help they do not get it even though you are paying for the service. I strongly urge you to visit on days when they do not know you are going to be there.

Parent a resident. Started out okay, however NO Staff. And if someone is there, takes forever to respond to resident. Poor food, kitchen floor filthy. NO activities. Do not bring your loved one here.

I visited this facility

The lady who met us at Cadence Lakewood was very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. The memory care facility seemed good and the residents seemed happy. The rooms were a good size. They had a window in them and the bathrooms were large and spacious. They have an activities calendar and it seemed like they had a lot they could offer to their people. While we were there, they had them out and engaged together in a room. They had an activity area, a nice dining area, and a courtyard.

I visited this facility

I want to go back and tour Cadence Lakewood again. They were still having pretty strict COVID restrictions when I visited, so I could only go and look at the room. I wasn't able to see what the community was doing or what the community had to offer, but I liked the room that I saw, and the people were really nice. There was outdoor seating, there were five different buildings, a nice little walking area, a nice neighborhood, and there's a big park next door. It had a lot of potential for me.

I visited this facility

I was very pleased with this community. If my mother would've agreed, we would have placed her there. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful. The dining room was very nice and very intimate, which was a very good situation. They had the apartments in individual buildings, so each one had a smaller dining room. It was a really nice thing that it wasn't a huge place. The atmosphere was nice. My disappointment was that there weren't one-bedrooms available, only studios.

I visited this facility

We had my mother-in-law here just this April. It has been fine so far. We have been really pleased with the room that she is in right now. What I like about this community is that we were able to personalize her care and it has been very good so far. Their staff are very nice and helpful. The food serve there is good for her. Overall, it was a good experience.
