    I am/was a resident of this facility

I was a resident at Cedar Lane Senior Living Community for over 5 years. The apartments are a good size and several have been renovated in to very nice living spaces. Cedar Lane is quiet, clean, and provides a great environment for independent, aging in place, and assisted living residents. Hallways are large providing easy access to all of the buildings. Security is provided 24-7 and safety is always addressed. Management is courteous and available to provide assistance for the residents. There are always some type of fun activities going on every day. Cedar Lane has a chapel, beauty shop, library, and store. There is a nearby pharmacy available for daily delivery of medications. Bus transportation runs 6 days a week. Staff at Cedar Lane are exceptional. Maintenance is available 24-7 for work orders and they are always painting, updating, repairing, and renovating. Support Services provides prompt assistance, information, etc. to residents. My family relocated me but would not hesitate returning to Cedar Lane.

    I visited this facility

I visited Cedar Lane for my mother-in-law. The staff was very nice and friendly. They offered a lot of services, but my mother-in-law didn't like it because it was an old building, and she said that it smelled bad to her. The rooms were small, but they have low counters, so it is convenient for the elderly. With regards to activities, they have pharmacy delivery, they have church, and they have a beauty parlor. They also have a library. The dining room looked efficient. The halls were wide enough for wheelchairs, and in the bathrooms, they have bars and handling, and they have emergency call buttons, so security and safety management was set up OK. However, the facility was old and needed repairs and updating.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have a relative at this facility. It is run down, the hall carpets smell, and some of the hallways, especially in building 2 are dark and depressing. There is not one picture on hall way walls. Why would anyone paint concrete hallway walls purple and beige? Although I have been told that the food has gotten better I do not know first hand at this date. I know in the last few years I couldn't eat the food, it made me ill. And I tried on many different occasions. The fact that a resident has to pay to Cedar Lane, not HUD $270.00 a month for one meal a day is ridiculous. Most elderly individuals don't eat that much food in two months. I don't spend that much for myself. If a resident gets ill, it is up to the resident to call 911 as the nurse will not. The nurse at this facility tells residents to go to their room and call for help. Even though I am on the contact list, if I call for info on my relative, I will be told that they can't give out any info. The facility is outdated. While I do believe that most of the staff work very hard, they are definitely underpaid. Staff personnel I have had dealings with have been courteous, friendly and kind. My final comment is that individuals that have animals and cannot physically take care them should not have animals in this facility.

    I am/was a resident of this facility

I am a resident of Cedar Lane and were it not for their manditory food plan as long as you are able to take care of your self it is not a bad place to live but assisted living is terrible. One of the employees who recommends this place took her mother and father and moved them to a different place so what does that tell you.I have a full kitchen and am able to do my own cooking and could eat better a lot cheaper. I could eat 3 meals a day for less then I have to pay for one. They say this is a Hud rule that no matter what meal we eat we have to pay for supper. When I chose supper my dog got more then I did because it was not fit to eat.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Unfortunately I did not have a good expirience with this facility, the main reason was my father could not feed himself, and the staff was remiss making sure my father was fed, they would leave the food, and then walk away though he needed assistance, my father though not the easiest patient for sure, was a nice man, and I feel the neglect contributed to his early death. It is unfortunate that the home and many like it are understaffed and the staff is underpaid, this is why I believe the staff memebers do not take more pride in their work, it is hard and emotionally exhausting work with little compensation for it. I feel that many nursing homes could benefit from a better paid and higher trained staff, and consistant training and support for workers expiriencing loss of a favorot resident and other emotional issues that arrise not only for family memebers of the sick and elderly, but for the care workers who are there day in and day out. I do believe the nursing home did its best with the resourses available and the staff available to make my father and mother comfortable during their stays. I would recommend the home, but would also recommend constant monitoring of your loved one if placed there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Cedar Lane Apartments is a peaceful assisted living location for those 62 or older. After my mother had a stroke that rendered her unable to use a good portion of the left side of her body, she and I needed to find a place that would be able to address her needs, while at the same time providing a supportive environment. After going from facility to facility and leaving unsatisfied with the care and services offered, we finally came across Cedar Lane. As soon as we walked in we felt welcomed. The staff was very kind, and went out of their way to make sure my mother felt secure and were able to answer all of our questions. We took a tour, and later were able to speak face to face with the director. Friends and family who had positive experiences with Cedar Lane put our minds at ease, and after much consideration, my mother decided to move in. The place is clean, quiet, and the staff members know their stuff. The only downside that I have is that the facility is somewhat "dated," but supposedly there are plans to renovate in the works. Nine months later, my mother is recovering nicely and still happy with her living arrangements.
