Sunrise of Glen Cove is a community with a care team that I really do trust, and that's hard for me because I am usually very skeptical in communities, but the staff members here have proved time and time again to the residents, the families, and people such as myself that they are in it for the long haul. That it's not just another job for them or that the ONLY reason they are there is for a paycheck, and while I am sure the paycheck is a big factor in it, I can see that it's far from the only factor. The staff members just adore the residents, each and every amazing one of them. They are always going above and beyond to make sure that the residents are happy and have everything they need. They are in a large way the ONLY family that some of the residents have and I am SO glad that the staff not only recognize that but they use that as a way to be even better for the residents, to build an even better foundation with the residents. They are a family in this community and they are so supportive, protective, and courteous of one another. Another thing about the staff - they know how to deal with stressful and chaotic situations and in any emergencies if they arise. They always remain so calm, so logical - they don't panic - they are the kind of people I would want taking care of me if I were hurt or sick or in immediate danger. It takes more than just training to know how to react in difficult/dangerous situations - it takes a special type of person to not only remain calm but to also keep everyone else calm and the staff members at Glen Cove are those type of people. If these residents were ever at risk or in serious danger, I would have the utmost confidence in knowing that these were the people in charge and who were going to bring the residents to safety.
The residents really enjoy each other's company, they all seem to be friends - some closer than other- but they all get along well with one another. They make up a very close community and family, they like creating their own memories and traditions within the community - some residents may meet for coffee the same time every week, some may have special "friendship" anniversaries or they may have a special birthday tradition they do for every residents birthday. The point is - is that they have together created a family and I am speaking mainly of the assisted living residents but I know that the memory care residents also have special traditions and things that they do together.
Sunrise at Glen Cove is a great community - wonderful for those who want to be a part of a close family-like community, for those who want to make close friends and build memories and just live life surrounded by people you care about and you care very much for you. This is that type of community.
