Vista Cove at Arcadia

Vista Cove assisted living facility is in Arcadia, CA. We decided to visit the area to check out suitable places for our grandmother to live. The castle like structure caught us by surprise. It looked like it could have been a hotel or bed and breakfast at one time.

We started with an outdoor tour. The grotto area was quite beautiful and had a rain forest vibe to it. There were plenty of park benches around so that all could enjoy the area. The picnic tables were a nice touch and we were told that residents are encouraged to eat meals outdoors whenever possible. There was a gazebo on the other side of the building that many residents like to visit during various times of the day. Some residents use it for family visits. The lush greenery surrounding the facility was tranquil, serene and soothing, with lots of seating areas.

The main rooms all had high ceilings and were far more spacious than the modern facilities we've been seeing. This really made a difference – in a very good way.

The private rooms were very nice sized and decorated as though they were part of a bed and breakfast. They all had a stately architectural feel, yet were equipped with modern conveniences like walk-in showers. Each one also had either a porch, patio or both. Our uncle really liked that aspect. He has a rocker that he loves to sit in and could see himself sitting outside reading. Residents are encouraged to put their own personal touches on the rooms, which many have shown a flare for doing. It was clear that many of the residents were quite comfortable in their new homes.

The food we tried was really delicious and they can accommodate anyone's tastes and dietary needs. Snacks are offered many times throughout the day and provided if asked for at any time.

There is an endless number of activities that is always updated to include new and interesting, stimulating things to do. From gardening to bingo to computer classes, we couldn't see how anyone could ever get bored living here! Our uncle really liked the Nintendo Wii – so much so that it was hard to get him away from it! There are also regular outside cultural and community events offered on a near daily basis. If anyone has a special desire for an outside activity, arrangements are easy to make for an escort there. This is definitely a very well-thought out facility, with resident care and contentment in mind.
