My mom was a resident of Arborview The Good Life for 3 years. She was well cared for. The staff was genuine and so very caring. They were all very loving towards her. Her rooms were very good. She was happy there. I wanted to thank Arborview for such good care of my mom.

Never felt more helpless than when I visit here. Staff does not interact with the people, they are snippy when answering call buttons (almost like the residents are a bother to them). There just is no life there no happiness terribly sad to see the lack of care and empathy. Food is horrendous, we try to keep our loved one supplied in their room because most meals are not edible. For the things our loved one was promised to get them in the door, once there that goes out the window. Big talker but does not want to spend a nickel to make residents time there memorable

My loved one was there for many years and the last 3 were horrible, use to be the place people wanted to go, now they just want to go away. Accommodations overall appearance declining, food have trouble even calling it that and the lack of care and caring staff is BAD. Glad my loved one is no longer there, grateful for the good times they had there just a shame it went 360 degrees in the other direction

Oh my goodness did not think any place could be as bad as the reviews say, I was wrong as a matter of fact it is worse. I do not know where to begin. The food is horrendous made at another facility sent to this place warm then reheated and served. Website says Dietician on staff have never seen one and can't believe the menus are created by a dietician they are horrible. The atmosphere in the facility is depressing, the residents long for someone to just talk to them but staff are like robots do their tasks and get out. No compassion, empathy or caring and once you meet the Community Manager and the Nurse on staff you see that it starts at the top. No professionalism amongst the staff inappropriate language and conversation in front of residents, while the "Nurse" stands and giggles. We keep a very close eye on our relative there because you will not receive the honest truth about something when it happens. You will receive "we need to look into it" and that means we need to get our story straight. The Manager and Nurse are on their second time around there because anyone with any type of ethics would not work for the company. It is so sad that there are so few places that will help our elderly live their best life. Activities another poor department very childish activities for the people they are adults not children treat them that way. I suggest you have your loved ones work on being independent because if you ask the staff for help they scold you and say you should not be there if you can't do this or that. Such a degrading experience for anyone to have to go through especially at this stage of their life. The stars below should go into the negative give one star is one too many. pray for them

I can empathize with these people we got our loved one out shortly after Covid hit. it was also at the same time there was a change in managers and I mean a change. There was a manager there that gave 120% 7 days a week to make sure that everyone's needs were being met. The owner did not do anything to help her out just let her do everything and in the mean time he was saving money. When she burnt out and left that is when the problems began, The new manager feels she should be rewarded just for showing up. Residents are an inconvenience to the staff. Last review was correct Arborview was the place everyone wanted to be and now I can not even describe what it feels like when we walk in there. So quiet not activity no life, before we could barely go visit our loved one because she was so busy with activities and doing things they did not want to miss anything. Go there now you could visit any resident and they would be thrilled just to have someone talk to them. It is unfortunate that people that have contributed to society for years are just looked at as dollar signs.

Our loved one was a resident of Arborview Manor for a couple of years. Upon moving in, everyone was so kind and helpful over and above. We could not have been happier. Our loved one was participating in activities and they had live music on a regular bases which they enjoyed most of all. Then it all changed. A few months prior to the onset of Covid-19 it was declining in all areas including the food situation. It was if someone (something) had just killed the happiness and fun in that building. When you would enter the building for a visit you stopped seeing people in the common areas, talking and laughing. Our loved one was suddenly always found in their small room not out playing bingo or downstairs painting or playing another type of game. It took us some time to find another facility (due to Covid-19) for them but we had learned to have our eyes wide open and trust what we see and not some fairytale story we were told. It has worked out for our family though I often think about the friends left behind and hoping they are doing fine. I can NOT recommend this facility.

Do not even know where to begin have had a loved one there since pre-covid and people are not exaggerating that the place has changed and sad to say not for the better. Employees starting with the manager on down are rude they have no time or patience for the ones they are hired to care for. This is the managers second time around and as families we expressed our concerns with the owner during the first employment and apparently fell on deaf ears. The food is not palatable, visually appealing and processed. When our family member moved in things were lively, food was amazing it was for certain a resident centered facility it all revolved what they liked and things were done to make their lives a better quality. No longer as a matter you are often made to feel like you are burdening the staff by talking to them and asking for help. The Nurse left I have asked to speak to the nurse and still am not aware if there is even one there. "you always have the option to take them to the hospital if you feel something is wrong" is the response we get. Owner does not want to hear about issues yet he is planning on building another one in Fond du Lac when the ones he has are operating poorly already.

Unfortunately this place did decline just before Covid hit. Not sure why but as far as the food it is made at a different facility and delivered there and reheated before served sadly that affects the quality. Use to have so many fun things happening and beautiful outdoor space now all concrete. Beautiful gardens and fire pit that the residents enjoyed now just sit and decline, there is not staff who has the interest to interact with the residents to do anything. Seems more like a elderly apartment building rather than assisted living. Requirements are now higher to get in they really do not want people you have to assist they would prefer more independent. And everything is rushed, you only have certain amount of time to eat your meal, get a bath etc. But then you are told it is your home. It use to be so nice now it is sad to think that people have to live that way. Families there are some great places out there you would be surprised how nice your loved ones life can be.

Very disappointed with this facility, family does have a great apartment there is no doubt. But food leaves a lot to be desired, definitely expected much better when they advertise, they have a dietician poor quality meals. Staff is abrupt and short with residents. We are fortunate to be able to be there more to help our loved ones. Let's just say definitely different than what we were promised (and not for the better)

I visited this facility

Had to check this place out after reading these reviews. The man who did the tour was very full of himself, told us that he goes above and beyond with his facilities over any other places around. We then toured 4 more places and he needs to get out there and see what the world is offering as he is way behind when it comes to the services he offers compared to others. Apartments are ok but they are done with lower quality materials, have to pay your own utilities so the skylights and high ceilings are beautiful but we all know what that does to your heat bill. Also windows in the rooms need to be replaced especially if we are paying the heat bill. Not a selection for meals and what there was, was processed food (and prepared beyond its time way over done). Activities were there but not a lot of creativity behind them just simple events and very few participants. Then there is no green space everything is concrete very cold and non inviting one side of the building faces a wooded area but just seemed lifeless with no place to feed the birds or grow things not much reason to sit outside compared to the other places we toured. There are awesome places out there that offer an array of activities and social interaction and the food was amazing large variety and choices each meal. I agree do your homework do not just settle our loved one deserves better than the Goodlife facilities so happy we looked around.

Just lost a dear friend that was recently at this facility. She was not at this facility long and now she is gone. Wish we would have had a lot clearer pictures of what she was in for before she moved there. Staff would benefit from more intense training regarding different signs and symptoms when it comes to the different diseases of the aging. Would be beneficial for everyone too late for my friend but could help so many others.

What happened to this place the reputation is scary. We visit often and suggest others do the same. Staff very set on their specific tasks. Have asked for assistance with a personal item and we have been told "I am the med passer, I do not do that". In the past when this place was recommended to us it seemed more like a family everyone helped everyone else. No longer feels like a community definitely a disconnect from resident and staff, very sad

I visited this facility

Loved on had been in this facility for years. I was in town and thought I would stop in and see some of the folks from the past and I do not know what happened but it is by far not the same or even close. A whole different atmosphere not pleasant at all appears to be no life there. Use to be such a lively active place sad to see the complete opposite. Glad my loved one is not there any longer to see the way it is now.

Looking for a place for my mother she is in her 90's and have just been checking things out. Stopped at this place, outside not inviting all concrete very little green space. Talked to patients on the porch they stated the place is ok. food not so good and staff complains when they have to do something for them. did not bother to go further.

Have been stopping in at different places to see what is available and did not have to go stay here long to see that it is not the right choice. No one even asked us what we were doing there. Stopped on the floor where the dining room is and looked at the menu. did not see people out of their rooms and in the hall no people gathering any where inside or out. Something we have seen at other places. Very very quiet almost too quiet.

I visited this facility

Toured the facility looking for a place for a family member. Was not high on our list. Older building but up grades do not appear very durable. Did not really see any activity going on, everyone just in their rooms, and did not see staff around, quite the opposite than what we were looking for. Looking for a lively active environment. After our toured talked to a patient outside and they could not give us anything positive. What a shame.

Our family visited Arborview Manor in 2019. We were very impressed and felt good about placing our Mom in a facility like this. Mom began to decline with a broken hip and difficulty seeing things well. We remembered Arborview Manor and excited to move Mom in. We were sad that the great place we thought we found no longer existed. Everyone was either sad or angry from the up front girl to the caregiver girls sitting by the back. The young man who talked to us told us about the food which didn't sound like what it was in 2019 but more frozen type things nothing fresh made or good produce. we didn't see any activities or people visiting each other. Quiet and empty. Sorry they didn't make it thru 2020 covid. We got Mom and Dad in a lovely place in Oshkosh right on the river. water

I encourage everyone to spread the word regarding this site, unfortunately we were made aware of it too late. My relative also very disappointed because he was promised things and they are not happening. We are now having to go in and do most of the things we were told the facility would do which was included in his rate. There are so many options in the area for assisted livings please do not settle, take them some place where there is life and happiness.

Sad to see that after all we were promised for our loved one at this facility we are not receiving. As time has gone on we have had to do more and more for them. Staff does not assist with a.m or evening cares. If they fall asleep and do not show up at a meal to not count on the staff to go and get them 99% of the times they just will have to wait for the next meal. We are now doing families laundry as apparently staff no longer does it and we clean their room. Just who is assisting who

Our loved one is still there but we have visit daily just to keep an eye on things. Though that does not assure they are getting cared for as they should. Heard a staff member say to a resident in the hall "you better pick up the pace by the time you get to the dining room the food will be all gone and you will starve" exact words from a caregiver to a resident. Please keep a close eye on your loved ones and visit often they need your protection. Please also monitor your bills and make sure your loved one is truly getting what they are being charged for.

Happy for the Past

So happy that my mother was there when things were good. I have been to see some of her friends lately and it is pitiful walking in there, compared to when she was there. No life staff not only looks unprofessional but act like high schoolers and the language of sailors. The facility use to be so full of life very little time was spent in their rooms, now you never see anyone out of their room. Talking to Mom's friends they just keep telling me how lucky she is that she has passed because no one likes living there any more. The food is terrible processed nothing fresh or exciting. Staff is young and no experience, one of the residents told me there is no one here that cares any more. Activities are completed on a time frame because then we can get back to our rooms so "they " do not have to "deal" with us. You always expect changes but it is a complete 180 from my mother was there. I use to recommend Arborview to everyone can honestly say today I would not suggest it to anyone. I would suggest if you have a loved one there get them out before something bad happens to them, as it has already happened to others.

Feeling terrible that I put my family member in this place and now need to get them out because this place is truly making them age and decline rapidly. Nutritional health unheard of most food is processed and that is if they even have enough to serve you. Some people get three portions of food per meal because we were told "He will get loud and scream at us if we don't give him alot". But my family member will just sit quietly and go without so quiet that sometime they just forget to deliver them food. Apparently out of sight out of mind. The residents are just waiting for the end of their life to happen SO SAD but when they start praying for it to happen sooner then it is time to get them out of there, especially when there are places out there that strive on quality of life, for their residents.

So Unfortunate

1

April 23, 2021

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

So unfortunate we had looked at this facility back in 2018 for a loved one just to get an idea of what services were offered. Place was amazing staff was energetic, showed great compassion to the residents, always something going on a lively place. Speed ahead to 2020 finally needed to place a loved one our first choice was Arborview. What a huge MISTAKE the manager is cold and does not display any type of compassion (I understand this is the 3rd manager since we toured). Staff does not even acknowledge you when you enter the building. I am there two times a week and very seldom see the same people if you are lucky enough to see them at all. My loved one feels afraid to put their light on because staff "is huffy and short with me when I do". I was told housekeeping and laundry are done by staff. Well I hope the housekeeper cleans their house better than my loved ones room (I usually clean bathroom once a week and apparently dusting is not part of the contract). Laundry they need to give the staff a course in how to do laundry (though my loved one says that "maybe if they screw it up they will not have to do it anymore", well that is exactly what happens you are told "you can always do it yourself or have your family do it". So now family is cleaning the room, doing the laundry and do not get me started on the meals because we are also providing meals to meet our loved ones "proper nutrition". When asked about accommodating diets back in 2018 that was not a problem, the manager was very agreeable to work with that, now we are told it is the "clients" responsibility to make choices to accommodate their diet. My loved one would love to do that but there are no healthy options to choose from, several times has requested a salad which is on the menu as an option but is then informed "we are out of lettuce". We will not be keeping our loved one at this facility as whether Private Pay or Insurance Paying you do not get a break on the rent even though we do the cleaning, providing food and doing laundry. God bless the residents that were there in 2018 when we toured because it appeared they had an amazing life happening. Not that way any more I personally want to take everyone of them there and help them to get a better quality of life they deserve so much more it is unfortunate that places like this even exist people who have contributed to society for years being treated like this. Please always check places several times before admitting a loved one do not make the same unfortunate mistake we did.

Lisa and her staff are incredible. They treat their residence like their own family members. I love seeing the enjoyment and excitement on my grandma‘s face when I go to visit her. The facility has home-cooked meals, crafts, bingo, movie night, and they even have outings once in a while. I was very sad to have to put my grandma into an assisted living and the only regret I have about this decision was that I didn’t do it sooner for her. Every time I go to visit Lisa makes sure She comes down just to say hi to us. Sometimes Lisa puts in over 48 hours without sleep and you never Cantel because she is such a charming happy person. She would do anything for her residence.

Arborview Manor has very caring and very helpful staff. My mom has a large one-bedroom apartment, and she is very happy there. They have bingo. I am so happy with the place, and I wish we would have done this years ago.

Arborview is almost brand new. My brother knew about it. The place seemed very nice as well as the staff, but it was very expensive, and my mom did not want to move in Oshkosh. The dining room was nice. We saw one room, and it was pretty typical.

I visited this facility

We visited Arborview Manor while in the region looking at facilities for our uncle. The outer exterior appeared very well maintained. The grounds were nicely landscaped, with tree-lined walkways and areas for seating. They had ample communal rooms for many activities like library, exercise, card games, crafting and in-house meetings. We could see that the residents had plenty of interesting ways to occupy their time. This facility can accommodate a variety of ambulation levels and as a resident's needs change, care can be shifted accordingly. The fitness center was very impressive, with regular exercise classes, and personal trainers to ensure safety while assisting the seniors in every way they can. The menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The dining room was quite nice, with plenty of space. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. All units were well designed, efficient and yet still spacious. The living spaces were lovely and beautifully decorated with lots of fresh air and light. This is a very nicely designed living environment for seniors that includes everything they need to have a vibrant life. We were impressed with how well the staff interacted with the residents.
