I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend is now in Lake Hallie Memory Care. The people working there seem to be very friendly and outgoing. I was just happy with them. The people were smiling there, so that means a lot. When I was there, they had two guys playing guitars and singing. They had a few more activities than some of the other places, like they were making little heart wreaths to put on their doors, so it was pretty good. They were cheaper than the place she was at before, so that's a plus. They've been very helpful any time I've asked. We placed her there because they had three available rooms, and we needed to get her in a place that's safe.

I visited this facility

I toured Lake Hallie Memory Care for my mom, and the staff was amazing. Every single person that we talked to (right from the activities director, to the head of the place, and to the nurses) was amazing. The place itself is a place that you would want to put your loved ones in. It's just beautiful. It's clean. It's set up really nice; it's all one level. The dining area was really nice. I can't remember what they call it, but they give it kind of a fancy name; it's just nice. I think there's four of them, so everyone's not at one place. It's split up, so it's a little more intimate. Every day there are two activities offered in the morning and two activities offered in the afternoon. They have a fishing pond right on site, where the residents can go out and throw a fishing line in. They also offer bus trips and things like that; but with COVID, that hasn't happened much. They have an outdoor garden space that can be accessed by all the residents. It's very safe because it's all enclosed, so they can come and go as they please in the gardens.

I visited this facility

I liked Lake Hallie Memory Care the best. Whoever was in charge there was excellent. He made you feel very comfortable and he was willing to help. Everything else was fine. It was just a typical nursing home, and we felt at that point that my son wasn't ready for a nursing home facility. When we were there that day, they had music in one auditorium type room, and everybody was sitting in there. It was good music. I feel that they do things for the residents rather than just have them sit in their rooms all the time. That's where I would like my son to go, except they have no openings now. I didn't interact with too many staff members except for the administrator, but everybody seemed happy there. They're good.

I visited this facility

Our tour in Lake Hallie Memory Care was great. I loved how the facility was set up where they had four different sections, and each section had its aide that was in charge of the 15 beds that might have been in that section. Each section also had its dining center, so they weren't dining with the whole facility, they were only dining with their own 15 people that are in their area. So, it was set up nice. They have crafts, games, and stuff they would do with the residents. Then all of them had a nice patio area and gardens where the residents could go out and just sit and look at the plants and the trees and stuff like that. They were all just rooms and you could bring your own refrigerator into the room, otherwise, they had no sinks or anything like that. It's just that communication has not been good. I'm not having very good luck with getting my questions answered. At the time we turned in the paperwork, there were six rooms available, but I don't know what the procedures are and I have called them, but I haven't received any comments back. The director was nice though.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Lake Hallie was an excellent community. My parents used to be residents and I would recommend it to anyone because they can go in the same room and stay together. They only have rooms and a very large handicap-accessible bathroom. But because my mother was in memory care they couldn't have anything electrical in their room like a coffee pot, refrigerator, and things like that. However, there's a dining room in each wing, which is nice. The most that the dining room can accommodate is 24 people. The amenities aren't as nice in the rooms because they don’t have living rooms, bedrooms, walk-in closets, and so on, but the care was excellent. They do the laundry and things like that. I like how the staff keeps in touch with the family, and they call me for anything going on at all. They've only been open for a couple of years now. They're good about filling requests if you'd like something special, and if you talk to the cook. They had snacks and things for the residents if they got hungry. I'd ask if they could make my mother a cup of hot chocolate and a piece of toast so she could fall asleep, and they were very nice about that.
