I visited this facility

I love Brookdale Brookfield Capitol Drive. I thought that it was very clean. The staff was incredibly friendly. It was very welcoming. I enjoyed the place, to be honest. They had a couple of different areas where people were able to gather, like in the front, when you first walked in, there was a place. There was also a TV room and an activity room. It was very nice. The apartments were a very good size, especially for somebody who needs memory care. They were very clean. They were able to be customized by yourself. They even have little things outside of your room, almost like a shadow box, to describe the resident. It was cute. It's just out of our price range and insurance will not cover it. The staff was incredibly welcoming. It was almost like a family environment. The place hasn't been updated in a while. However, even with that, the place was very clean. It smelled clean. You could tell that they all took pride in their space and their jobs.

I visited this facility

What I liked best about Brookdale Brookfield Capitol Dr was the dedication and personal involvement of the director. He has been in very frequent contact with me by email, sending me information about things that I am interested in so that I'm able to get a full picture of what life is like there without actually having lived there. I'm able to see information from people and families that live there. I liked that they had a central outdoor patio where residents could freely go to relax or take care of flowers or do outdoor activities. There were several common living room areas and they were just homey and comfortable spaces. I've had contact with four staff members and they were all wonderful.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has moved into Brookdale Brookfield Capitol Dr. It's a small facility, only 26 apartments, which means the staff can be spending more of their time dedicated to the inhabitants. The staff is very attentive. The director is extremely involved in virtually all facets of the operation, including taking photos of the residents regularly and sending them to their family members. It's very good, and social. There are community televisions in several rooms of the facility. They also have the opportunity to have a television in their own room, but they do encourage the inhabitants to socialize more and get out there. They also have social events available. One example, they took a group that was not a flight risk out to Culver's for an ice cream social. I have seen the food and it looks very good. The menus do change. I have not heard any complaints. I've gone through there while they're eating, and they all seem to be enjoying it. I have seen the menus and they are pretty appetizing. The price can always be lower. As far as the price goes, when they say all-inclusive, they pretty much mean that most of the additional services that they list are still included in that fee. Whereas virtually every other facility I have gone to has a very long list of additional services with additional fees.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We placed our Mom in this facility about 6 months ago when we were not able to provide the proper care at home. She is thriving here. She is doing things here that we could never get her to do at home. They have activities every day where both physical and mental skills are used. The staff is friendly. The food looks to be excellent with a chef on premise. The rooms are kept clean. The facility is big enough that Mom gets enough interaction with other residents but not so big that she gets intimidated by the size of some of the places we visited.

Staff is friendly and always willing to help when asked. Various activities are provided for residents at their ability levels. Rooms and building has plenty of space for visiting and residents. Square layout plan provides opportunity for residents to walk around.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I have a Love One that has been a resident at Brookdale Senior Living/Capital Drive since October 2020 - He has Parkinson's and Dementia and we could no longer care for him. What made us choose Brookdale was the intimacy of the facility. They only have 24 residents and the staff is caring, attentive and knows each person, both their likes and dislikes and how to deal with them. They know my voice when I call and are respectful and compassionate to both his needs and mine. The make me feel like they care for both of us and that's extremely important to me. They also have been very diligent for the COVID protocols and I appreciate their staffs professional approach to the whole situation. Are they perfect NO - Do they try their best for each individual YES - I highly recommend them to any one looking for an Assisted facility for Dementia related person.

I like the dedication and commitment of the executive director in Brookdale Brookfield. They are very invested in taking care of people with memory issues. The facility is clean, reasonable, convenient geographically, and highly recommended by other people, which is why we chose it. It seemed like a nice community and was well-staffed. The rooms I saw there were studios, and they have activities.

Brookdale Brookfield was a possibility for our situation. The rooms were nothing much different than any of the other place. They had a big dining area, places for recreation, and a salon.

Staff is poorly trained. Management does not respond to concerns. Rooms smell like urine as residents are not changed enough. Can often find residents soaked in urine. Over billed as not recieving what the bill states we should. Not enough activites for residents. Residents are left in wheel chairs all day!!

Provider Response

The health and well-being of our residents is our top priority and we have shared your concerns with our management team for review.
